Cross-Country Skiing Skiing has always been the most popular after-school activity at Anthony, with more than 200 kids wanting to join Mr. Caldwell for down-hili skiing. This year the down-hillers had two series 6f trips, both of which were very popular. But the fact that we even have cross-country skiing is a sign of both its growing popularity, and of the power of the press. Yes, the Anecdote! The cross-country ski group got started when three seventh grade girls wrote a letter to the editor asking why we couldn't have a cross-country club. Mr. Hayden, who is an experienced and enthusiastic cross-country skier, volunteered to advise the group. But, unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, and the group only got to go out about five times because it was raining, and you can't cross country ski on dirt. But the times they had were fun times and they look forward to next year. Where Are Their Heads? We asked Mr. Hayden to take some pictures for us, and he nicely agreed to do so. Mr. Hayden: You're a great math teacher, and a great cross-country skier, but as a photographer, well, you're a great math teacher and cross-Country skier!
