ANTHONY ACTIVITIES Hot dogs and beans. Viking films and players. A good night was had by all who came to the second annual Viking night. Don't be shy! ACTION LEARNING Learning doesn't only come from books. For 180 students this year, fifth, sixth, and seventh hours meant getting out of school and getting credit for it. All the students had art, science, and social studies. But community involvement was a big part Richard and Steve reach for the sky while Domin- of the course, tOO. ic handles the cash. We were at schools, a beauty shop, a con- valescent home, day care centers, and busi- nesses. INTERIM DAY Interim Day was one of the best days of the year. We had two different places to go skiing. We went for a hayride. We rollerskated, bowled, and ice skated. We fixed instruments, played hoc- key, or made yarn dogs. We worked with a real juggler and with a professional theater troupe. We played chess, table games, and watched a movie. We made pizza, doughnuts, and candy. We toured the airport, at hotel, Betty Crocker Kitchens, the science museum and the humane society. It was a great day. CHESS CLUB We aren't fantastic, but we have good moves sometimes. Mr. Mc- Clure and the chess club have had some good times. BASKETBALL TEAM Our team had a really good year, meet- ing teams from other south Minneapolis schools. The girls have both a seventh and eighth grade team. GIRLS, 8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL TEAM CO-ED VOLLEYBALL RESULTS EIGHTH GRADE SEVENTH GRADE 1. 306 1. 203 2. 307 2. 106 3. 303 3. 006 ,,,,, All the languages have clubs. This year three German students and Ms. Slayton were in a group travelling to Germany. This club writes, and puts out a booklet, but Miss Tyson and the club members always are doing other interesting things, too -- like going skating or eating lemon drops! WR ITI N G BANDI Q. xK S W mgsv' . BAND H W .. . E: WWW m V... 1 28 Anthony has five musical groups: the two bands, the choir, the girls' glee club, and the strings orchestra. GLEE CLUB Tell them how to do it, Mr. Andert. 30 AUDIO VISUAL AIDES AND STAGE CREW The stage crew does all the jobs we don't ever see when we have something in the audi- torium. They pull curtains, turn on mikes, con- trol the lights, and move things on and off stage. The AV crews are perhaps the busiest in the school. They run all the projectors. They carry things from room to room for teachers. They correct papers, and collate assignments and tests. They're also lucky, because they are the only students in the whole building allowed to ride and operate the elevator. OFFICE AND LIBRARY AIDES The office and library aides learn valuable office skills, help the school, and have fun too. 'Cindy tbelowt is doing what she and the other 14 office aides do most of the time -- operate the switch board. They answer outside calls coming in, and office calls coming from within the school. They also deliver messages, file, sort, and help with attendance. The library aides file cards, stamp cards, shelve books, and write those incessant over-due notices. 31 STUDENT'LOBBY WMHH ., M , , WWW . ,4 The student lobby collected food for the needy at Thanksgiving. They planned dances, planned and carried out the election of the hall of fame. They helped carry out the discus- ions of the discipline policy. YEARBOOK STAFF We did it! g lr J :3 ngiwt xx v ;.8;!: cu -., DRAMA CLUB In its first year the drama club did one play. Left, and below, members of the club demonstrate one scene from the play.
