Everyone know Mr. Juetad-oknowe that he teaches art ta many of Anthony's students, that he makes the scenery fer the Operetta, end that he is usually around whenever anyone needs e helping hand. But he also advised and assisted the stat! of the annual, and leneged to iron out all the seemingly in- poeeible difficultiee ihich turned up at every step. The staff found that his advice me very good, until he stated that he would not allow us to dedicate the book to 111-. Lights sparkled off flutes and basses, Clarinets and cornets, and the An- ! e thony Spring Cnncert had started! First Little English Suite was played to appre- ciative listeners, and then the prorram con- tinued with Pacific Grandeur , Fiddl'osophy , In a Persian Market , and South Pacific , played by twu Anthony bands and the orchestra, respectively. There were other things, too. The audience had a chance to hear violin, sousah phone, trombone, and peuno solos, as well as see an exotic Spanish dance. In spite of in- evitable lust-minute complications, the whole e?eniny went by with hardly a sour note. Andert 1T MEMORIES Candidates sat with their fingers crossed in hopes of being elected to ninth grade office. You see, one of our ninth grade graders, Les Smiley, was collabor- ating With Mr. DeLapp in hopes of givir 0 eight ninth graders nervous breakdowns. They found an excellent way, too. What can be more nerve racking than running for an office, especially on of such high esteem as that e? an officer in the ninth grade? To make the choice as to whom should run was ii?ficult so our two mischief makers and Mr. Fredrickson decided we should run the election just like the national procedures. 1 It all began on October 27. Bob Rratager, Rick Irvin and Jim BliW1s acted as chairmen and Anthony held a golitical convention. Nominees were forced to re- tire to the soundproof foyer and votes were them cast by each ninth grade home room so the number ef candidates could be narrowed down to two for each office. Out in the foyer, anxiety lurked and a black cloud of ominous silence hovered over the auditorium as the nominees made their way dovn the aisles to their seat 5. Results were tnen announced and each of the new candidates Was greeted by e bUPSt 0f 39' t plause from the exuberant audience. Be aut iful Anthony Each year the Minneapolis Men's Garden Club awards plaques to pub- lic buildings which have worked , especially hard to add something BBQ 1 to the lasting beauty of Our city. LNHBEAHNG ' , This year Anthony has had such an YWPXRD 1 r appropriate and well-cared-for landscaping design that everyone who has seen it agrees that our school deserved one of the four awards given to Minneapolis b 11d- ings. 0f corrse, the person who was probably most responsible for this was Mr. T?renk Hein, our chief en- gineer and the man who takes care of our school. For this reason Mr. Hein accompied Mr. DeLapp to a dinner in December to accept the plaque. But Anthony students had a share in earning this award too, for it was our care which helped us become a school of which the whole lcommvnity can feel proud.
