High School Our first year at Surry Central has swiftly flown by; but it has flown tirelessly, gaily, and proudly, like the Golden Eagle that has shared our growth and cheered our maturity. This year has given us a new sense of accomplishment, as we have made vast academic progress by utilizing Central ' s modem learning facilities. And we have also grown socially, as each new face in the halls became that of a familiar friend. For some of us, high school life has just ended; for others, it has just begun; but for all of us, life will forever hold gratifying memories of 1961-62 at Surry Central. 5

But Now We are Classmates at Surry Central As its name implies, Surry Central High School is centrally located in Surry County, on a 48-acre site just south of Dobson, North Carolina, the county seat. Central offers to every one of its 595 students a well-balanced curriculum, consisting of 44 different courses. Each of the classrooms has modern facilities, which enable the teachers and students to do their best work in the fine tradition already established at Surry Central. 4
