There were endings mingled with fond memories and a tinge of sadness but also with great expectations as Copeland, Dobson, and Mountain Park High Schools ceased to be. However, a new educational day was dawning as Surry Central High School opened her doors. Some of us who faced the challenge of adjustment to life in a new school, now face the challenge of tire future in our highly complex and ever-changing world; while others will again have the responsibility and the privilege of studying and learning at Surry Central. It has been our purpose to present here, in this first AQUILA, the people, the activities, and the events that have made our first year at Surry Central a highly successful one. It is our hope that this book will serve as a vivid reminder of the year, during which strong educational foundations were laid at Surry Central. May you remember: This was the beginning.
