EXECUTIVE OFFICER Commander SATTLER, a native of New Jersey, gra- from Newark College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He entered the Navy on a College pro- gram and was commissionedias an Ensign on 24 Febru-E ary 1942. Commander SATTLER'S first duty station was ARGUS UNIT 9 at Port Hueneme, California, where he served as Engineering Officer , Maintenance Officer and Supply Officer from April 1943 to September.1944. He then went to the Naval. Air Station, ELLIS Islands and served as Engineering Officer. Then he went to Van- couver, Washington and helped put in commission the USS ROCKWALL QAPA-2305 and served aboard her until February 1946. During his tour of duty aboard the ROCKWALL it spenta great deal of her time during the war near Japan and China, and landed the 81515 Marine Division while there. In 1946 Commander SATTLER went on inactive duty and was Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Training Division 3-28 at Berth Amboy, New Jersey. He came back on active duty in October 1959 and was sent to the Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D. C. where he served as Safety Officer until reporting aboard the aircraft carrier BENINGTON CVA-29. Aboard the BENINGTON he served as D.C.A. until June 1955. He then went to the Naval Ammunition Depot at Earle, New Jersey and served as Ordnance Officer until October 1958 when he came aboard the SURBACHI. DEPARTMENT HEADS Yu...
