I've been at Sunset Hill's May Day. And Oh, my Lord, it was just the mostest beauti- ful thing I've ever seen. Everyone in the school was in it, wearing gay costumes, carrying flowers and danc- ing. The queen was Judy Slaughter and the rest of the court was made up of Trudy Oliver, Barbara Buhler, Sandy Sloan, and Bonnie Murphy. I absolutely love, love, love May Day. V .- 3 Z i s 4 American Field Service Patricia Morgan Edinburgh, Scotland N Patricia Morgan, from Edinburgh, Scotland, arrived in Kansas City dur- ing the month of August, l959. l-ler purpose for coming was to be the ex- change student of Sunset Hill. Mr. and Mrs. John Oliver became her new parents, and America, her new home. Since that time, almost a year ago, Pat has proven herself worthy of this American Field Service honor. She has earnestly entered many activities and superbly kept up her academic work. Various organizations and groups in the city have heard her as their guest speaker and have felt, as she talked, a strong admiration for her native country, which she conveyed to them. Pat's charm and friendliness have been a great asset to Sunset Hill School, and we owe many thanks to the American Field Service for letting us enjoy her this past year. ei if 1 1,5-' VE 4, W y ' f, fl, , ,, '.,, I 3 ,ffl fx, .ff e ff, American Fie d V ,V,V f:.....v..fz: - f ff . --f -- 1- A - W -f ' '-v -'fr I-FTY 4? ,1'i-14-uf'-xualizf-'L,1guf1:v35H Service Bonnie Ann Murphy Brazil The summer of l959, Bonnie Ann Murphy was chosen to be Sunset's exchange student. She was sent by the American Field Service to Brazil, where she lived with the Penna da Rocha family. For three months she toured Brazil, ate the South American food, and spoke Portuguese. This year the students of Sunset l-lill School have had the privilege of sharing Bonnie's experiences by seeing her beautiful slides of Brazil. She has also spoken, sometimes with Pat Morgan, at many organizations, vividly conveying her love for Brazil, her adopted country. We feel fortunate to participate in the American Field Service and hope to continue for many years. fair Ceremony School wos neorly out, so I skibbled over to Sunset Hill to see the lost octivities. There were beoucoup, beoucoup- people in the front holl and someone said it wos the stoir ceremony. So l wotched. This takes ploce when the juniors become seniors. Some day l, Eloise, might. They oll sing, put their rings on, and skibble up the senior stoirs. Tres exciting! Aspen- ki Trip Pleased to be here! l'm ready To go l-low long this time, Atfebury? Don r we look like skiers? A Just one of the group, David? ff I Ghost Walk Goblins, witches, ghosts! Sunset is a scary place around Halloween! The lower school has a ghost walk then. Everyone wears costumes, and we parade around the school and scare people. I am always me, Eloise. Then we go back to our rooms and have a big party. This year our captains were Barbara Smith and Finna Miller. Sandy Sloan was the co- captain. l don't like sports! Gold Team This is one of our two schools sports teams. They play hockey and basketball against the Bronze team, and make it tres tres exciting. l'm not good in sports-too small-but l love to watch them. The girls came Friday night and we all absolutely flew down to meet them. Then we all jabbered all night long until Saturday morning when Sunset played them in hockey. The game was quite sad.
