I wish to put emphasis upon the inconspicuous many of you, the big majority, who always do the right things and to thank you for your high ideals of personal conduct and your unwavering courage in living up to your ideals. You are the finest group of young people the world has ever seen. You are healthier, better informed, more religious, and more mature for your years than any other generation. D 6 d I 6' tl I i 0 I4 Herman 63 Scruggs This year's annual recognizes a man who has been devoted to the Purple and White for the past thirteen years. He has produced three state champion- ship teams and two second place titles. Two of his championship teams were developed in a Class B West Texas school in 1936 and 1937 before he came to Sunset in 1943. Since his arrival at Sunset, the Bison track team has not finished lower than second place except for a tie for cellar in 1945. He won state in 1953, won second in 1954, and tied for second in 1955. He was chosen Coach of the Year of Dallas County in 1953. With this record he has proved his fine ability as a coach. This year he seeks his fifth consecutive city title. For his devotion to Sunset High School, the 1956 SUNDIAL staff proudly dedicates this annual to Herman C. Scruggs.
