The Football Team brought home its first city championship trophy, and the STAMPEDE, only two years old, was judged the best high school newspaper in the state. This was the era of the high school sororities, such as the W. W. W. ,S, the Yabons, and the A. Z. ,Sg and all of them were meeting to decide whether they would wear pins or insignia sweaters. It was also the age of long black stockings, black bloomers, and white middy blouses. This was the regulation P. E. Uniform. The editor of the SUNDIAL contracted scarlet fever just before Publication Day, And-Shades of 1950- Chief D. Chalk declared war on Lunchroom Lounge Lizards .

1 ...And Armistice Day, usually ' 5 Z O I O a school holiday, fell on Sunday, much to the chagrin of vacation- loving Sunsetters. Another trophy was put in the case when Sunset upset Woodrow to take the district championship. The basketball squad was even more successful, not losing a game until they met Denton in bi-district play. These outstanding athletic achievements won for the school temporary possession of the coveted grandpa of all awards, the Sanger Trophy, which was being given for the first time. Scholastically, too, the Bisons were tops. They placed four state winners in Latin, and one of the graduating seniors received the Harvard Award. Favorite nicknames for the year were Spud , Suction , and Sag , and an anonymous faculty member was quoted in the Szmrlifzl as saying, Let's walk like little fairies, girls. Mr. Lyons is having a class below us.
