Scholarship awards were given for outstanding work in various subjects and to the R. O. T. C. Members of the club assisted in athletic activities, furnished transpor- tation, looked after grounds and training fields, and encouraged the teams in every way possible. A Dads Club Queen and five attendants were selected and an appropri- ate coronation ceremony was held in Dal-Hi S'tadium. This year marked the twentieth anniversary of the club. At the February meeting this occasion was celebrated with special recognition to past principals of the school, past presidents of the club, and life members. The club continued the work of enlarging the Memorial Fund to honor former students of Sunset who participated in the recent war. Addiional funds were secured by means of a bond selling campaign and a Memorial Fund Revue given by the club. Page Sewnlccn Parent-Teacher Association OFFICERS Mrs. Norman Mansfield . ...... ..... THE TREE'S SONNET I The wlnter's glaze and dagger winds she bears On limbs unclothed to the blasting blows. The chapping cold that racks her rigid frame Precedes the leaping sprays' of green she wears. And yet when uncontrolled emotions loose Upon her form in quick, parading moods, She does not then withdraw within herself In mode-of some forgotten old recluse, ' But shows her rippling green for all alive. The seamy sun shoos long, dry rays into The soul of her lush, lovely, verdant life: But, truth, 'tis' she that on these moods does thrive. The things We shall always remember con- cerning him here in Sunset are the simple things: his quick smile, his lovable per- sonality, his sense of humor, his honesty and fairness in dealing with students and teachers, his Wise and disciplined mind, his iaith in God. We accept Without question, but with deep grief, the termination of his life just as his years oi preparation and study were coming to full fruition-just as his sphere of influence was ever widening. We shall assuage our grief with the thought that to every boy and girl who knew him the memory of his life will live after him as a shining example and a bright challenge. 11111 E ?Q ' 3' VSWR ks National Thespian Club :NEMA ., X, if fx 1 .. ...K j K ,ef an . .1 tg.
