OUT .... removed from the crowd, one person seeking recognition within himself. A quiet hour of study or a few minutes to relax and reflect on recent happenings are a part of this solitude.

IN .... a quiet happiness, and a sense of be longing. Knowing you can do it, whatever it may be brings a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Dedication This Apollo is dedicated to one who is dedi- cated to students as a teacher, coach and counselor. As a senior boys physical education teacher, Mr. Ramsdell strives for a fair yet challenging game. He enjoys participating in the sports he teaches and it is not unusual for him to become one of the team members of whatever game is being played. He is a disci- plinarian, quick to correct and his students- respect him for this. As a coach Mr. Ramsdell takes a personal pride in the overseeing of the development of character of the boys he works with-. He de- mands a high quality of morality of the team members. In the seven yeors he has been at Sunset, he has coached J.V. basketball, fresh- men basketball. Varsity baseball for 6 years and has been assistant football coach. The most vivid characteristic of Mr. Rams- dell is an utter faith in people. He has a genu- ine concern for young people that is sensed and understood by those boys who seek his ad- vice. A counselor must possess those qualities he is helping others to achieve, for with no example to follow, success is difficult. Mr. Ramsdell fulfills the need for an example. Mr. Ramsdell attended Beaverton High where he was student body president, co-cap- toin of the football team and recipient of the Babe Ruth baseball award. After graduation he entered Pacific University. He devoted his studies to physical education with teaching as a goal. In College he was named an All-Con- ference basketball player. During the summer he played semi-pro baseball. His first position as a physical education instructor was at Merle Davies grade school. He taught there for two years before joining the pioneer teaching staff at Sunset seven years ago. Mr. Ramsdell's hobbies include fishing, eating and of course athletics. He is the father of four children, Julie 8, Laurie 6, Mike 4, and Chris 1. And so, to this father, teacher, coach and counselor, we the staff of the Apollo, proudly dedicate the 1965 APOLLO. 7
