NFLXFLC N.F.L. These initials stand for National Forensic League, the speech club on campus which is a part of the national organization. Speech contests are conducted in this area every two to three weeks and students also attended invitational contests at Bakersfield and Malibu. Several awards were won by contest participants from SHS. The FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUB is made up of students who take a foreign language or speak one and want to get together in social activities. The FLC gives one an opportunity to meet many dif- ferent people and to be involved in the club's activities. Club members work together in fund-raising projects. Money goes toward field trips, picnics, recreation, and scholarships for se- niors. 4 l

CHESSXRECREATION In order to promote inter-school activity and promote the strategic game of chess, the CHESS CLUB teaches the game of chess and how to improve one's skill in this fascinating sit-down sport. As in previous years, the CHESS CLUB attempted to play in the district tournament. However, due to lack of interest, the CHESS CLUB dropped out of the tournament. Led by Suzy Snow, the REC CLUB was one of the busiest clubs on campus. During 50's week, they put on activities during both lunches and helped out with the rally and dance. The REC CLUB organized off school activities that many people took advantage of. They received group discounts for their activities and many people joined in the fun, spending less for exciting events.
