The purpose of INTERACT is to pro- vide opportunities for young people to work together in a world fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding. Indeed, lofty words but they accurately describe the kind of ac- tivities undertaken by the members of the INTERACT CLUB. Service is empha- sized for the club's efforts are devoted to serving others whether they be young, old, disabled, or in need of help at a par- ticular time. The purpose of SCIENCE CLUB is to promote interest in the sciences, provide the op- portunity to do individual projects and participate in science-related activities, sponsor worthwhile endeavors, raise funds . . . and generally cause mischief. NFLXFLC N.F.L. These initials stand for National Forensic League, the speech club on campus which is a part of the national organization. Speech contests are conducted in this area every two to three weeks and students also attended invitational contests at Bakersfield and Malibu. Several awards were won by contest participants from SHS. The FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUB is made up of students who take a foreign language or speak one and want to get together in social activities. The FLC gives one an opportunity to meet many dif- ferent people and to be involved in the club's activities. Club members work together in fund-raising projects. Money goes toward field trips, picnics, recreation, and scholarships for se- niors. 4 l
