The Show Must Go On The junior Varsity lets dis- played tenacity during the sea- son. They had pride to never quit during a game no matter what the score. They came back the last game of the sea- son against Fremont and domi- nated the game, winning 38-6. The team had a league record of 5-7 with Diane Bell leading in free throws with 6773. Sheree Cabaniss led in reboounds and Lisa Clutter- buck and Laurie Reed led the team in scoring. Sunnyvale should have sev- eral good years of basketball ahead with five players still hav- ing 2-3 years of eligibility. 1. Lisa Clutterbuck shoots a Swisher from the top of the key. 2. Lisa Callus makes a nice pivot move to charge toward the basket. 3. Laurie Reed stretches for the ball but loses it to her opponent. 4. Mildred Cariaso dribbles between two Fremont players and streaks down court. 5. Sunnyvale jets fight for a rebound against Fremont. 6. Mildred Cariaso takes a nice 15 footer for two points. 7. Sheree Cabi- niss hangs on to the ball after a steal. 8. Lisa Callus concentrates on a win- ning free throw. 9. .f wi E. Standin Ovation The 1979 Varsity Wrestling Team brought the first and only league championship in the his- tory of Sunnyvale High's 23-year wrestling program. The record is 16 wins and no losses! Along with most valuable wres- tlers Brian Canali and Vince Baza, the lets had five champions in the league. It was a very close team all season with all the guys work- ing well together and a total of 40 finishing the season. The fu- ture looks great for the jets, since most will be returning. 1.
