They fought hard and are proud of the fact that this is the first year that the team has won any league matches. The 1978 Girls Swimming Team did not fare well in league meets but experienced great improve- ments. The team did place two relay teams and Rachelle Brooke in the league finals. Season Splash The Varsity and JV Waterpolo teams did extremely well: First time in four years the Varsity has won so many games , said coach Harmatz. Mike Sellers, with 34 goals, led the Varsity to 3 wins in the DAL. The IV team won 2 games out of the league. As coach Harmatz put it, This is the best IV team we have had in years . Four out of the six league games were lost by four goals or less. Mark Ophus and lim Roberts were leading scorers. Defensively, Paul Gonzalez performed out- standingly. Despite the small team size, the lets did all right and keep hopes for the future. 1. Varsity Waterpolo team: left to right: Mark Ophus, Dave Silence, Chuck Peltier, john Van Ark, lim Cole, Mike Sellars, lim Campbell, and Coach Sheldon Harmatz. 2.
