Hannele Elo At first when I came here, everything was new and strange. I really was afraid of going to school here in the U.S. I felt so lonely and also outside from everything. The longer I stayed the more I enjoyed. Nobody laughs when I pronounce some word wrong and everyone is patient enough to listen to what I try to say. I think if I hadn't been involved in the Marching Band and sports, I couldn't have gotten many friends. Now I want to thank all the counselors who advised me to pick the right classes, the teachers who were so helpful when I had some troubles with my classes and all the S.H.S. stu- dents who were so friendly to me and made this year really great. I always will remember the best times that have happened to me here. I I Annika Nilsson In the beginning I was very hesitant about coming to the United States as an exchange student. At once when I arrived I felt home- sickness for my home. I was also scared be- cause I had no knowledge of the language and familiar faces to discuss my problems. Through my counselors and teachers I learned more about the language and met many friends..Now I feel like an American instead of a foreigner. Everyone has been so friendly and has really made my stay very exciting. When I return I'll take back many memories and valuable experi- ences. I enjoyed my year here at Sunnyvale and would like to thank everyone for the marvelous time I had.
