ROW 'lx K. Cooney, N. Sims, B. Beatty, S, Starks, H. Breein. ROW 2: C. Voss, M. Gillihan, J. Fankell, C. Jenkins, D. Garriga. ROW 3: L. Mesa, J. Paulson, H. Horn, M. Adamson. We were off to a good start in our freshman year with quite a few pupils. We were very happy to finally be a part of Sunnyvale High School and were determined to be the best class in school. Our first thoughts were to make a good impression upon the teachers, but that didn't last long! To help us get through our first year, we elected Johnny Sotelo, president, Joe Torres, vice-president, Todd Peterson, secretary, Kathy Cooney, treasurer, Emily Jackson and Barry Kinney, social managers, and Gerald Amaral and Judy WolFf, sergeants-at-arms. We joined clubs, struggled through classes, and tried to do the right things expected of a Freshman Class. Some of our members made basketball, base- ball, football, track, and wrestling teams. Many girls made the drill team and went out for maioretting and GAA. Our freshman year was much fun, but we looked forward to our sophomore year with excitement. To start our second year at Sunnyvale, we elected the following officers, president, Barry Kinney, vice-president, Geraldine Munoz, secretary, Carmen Fernandes, treasurer, Judy Wolff, Jeanette Webb, social manager, and Joe Lomeli, sergeant-at-arms. Jeanette Webb, Nancy Sims, and Carmen Mays were elected song-girls from our class. Our energetic class participated in everything. Our brains made Honor Roll and CSF. Our athletes made important splashes in the world of sports, and the girls ioined GAA, glee club, maiorett- ing, flag twirlers, drill teams, and also did very well in band. Our first Christmas Ball, Snow Fantasy, went oFf very well with our own Jeanette Webb making a very lovely queen. Our assembly, according to us and some others, was one of the best. Transfer students from everywhere helped to bring our class roll well above the 200 mark. We all managed to get through our classes without too much trouble and looked forward to the day when we could say, We're juniors. And we finally made it! To start off our year, our 287 students elected Sam Avila, president, Jerry Nieto, vice- president, Janet Michelsen, secretary, Judy Wolff, treasurer, and Nancy Sims, social man- ager. Our assembly was the best yet. And our prom, the first Sunnyvale High prom, was one we shall remember for a long time. Thanks to our advisors, students, and all our class spirit, we've come along with a great class that is getting greater. When we graduate, we can look back with pride upon all we've accomplished during our four years at wonderful Sunnyvale High.
