FRONT ROW: Mrs. Ludwig, Advisory Stan Klippert, Presidentg Mr. Anderson Advisor The senior class was, as usual, guided by two of the greatest teachers and advisors in S.H.S.g hats off to Mrs. Ludwig and Mr. Anderson. As sophomores we were small, but mighty. We rallied, came to the top and took over the concessions at the games as a money project for the class. Then summer came and we had put another year behind us. As juniors we chalked up another score when we put on a splendid Jr.- Sr. Banquet. The evening was rounded out with entertainment from mem- bers of our own class and those of the senior class. Then our senior year was upon us. Oh, how the days began to fly. The first semester began and we rolled right on from football into basket- ball, Homecoming, Senior Tea, and getting senior pictures out of the way. Then the second semester began-Announcements, that elegant Prom, the Jr.-Sr. Banquet and graduation. Yes, GRADUATION! That long, long road had finally ended and we had made the finish line as a class with class. For many it was a sad occasion, but for most of us it was gay. Many happy moments had come to an end to that old familiar tune, 'cPomp and Circumstancef' 22 11' fa ALANTA,THELMA ALLEN,JOHN ALVEREZ,ROSIE ANDREW3,JERRY BARRNETT,TERRI BEAVER,THERESA BELL,DENNIS BELL,DORA EERE - --111 EMMff,-fRw.RfmR.mlmnu....1.R4E:A q,,., www W RERG, KAREN BIEBER, JAMES BLUM, SHIRLEY Bocas, RONALD BOLEY,SUE BRANDSMA,DON BREECE,MARY ELLEN BROERS,NANCY CAMPBELL, MARILYN CASINGER, JOHN CASTLLLEJA, JOSE CHAMBERS, OLETA CHAPPELL, DIANA CLEMENT, DANIEL CLIFFORD, BRUCE COLLEY, ROBERT A CONKLIN, BECKY CROW, DUANE CUNNINGHAM, ANNA DILLESHAW, REX DOHRMAN, CHARLA DONCASTER, JEAN DORSEY, GUILBERT DRISCO, MARK DUIM, ARTHUR ERZ, RON ETULAIN, BONITA FELSNIAN, SHARON FREDERICKSON, CEORGIANNE FRIEND, JOHN EURUKAWA, ANN GAY, LARRY -.1- ug,,m,,.w f--L h-,, , J, ,, . .,R. 1- - ,M.1.,,v. Kurtis German home is Fuerth in the state of Bavaria. It was here that he practiced his fluent English conversing with American soldiers. His American home has been with the Earl Hull family on their farm east of Sunnyside. Kurt speaks warmly of his adopted family and says that he was made to feel right at home. Our new companion has enjoyed his experiences in America and says that he will never forget the new and wonderful friends he has made. He is taking home pic- tures of these new friends and classmates and tells us that hot dogs, football, root beer, and co-educational class- rooms are all part of the American life he has enjoyed. We wish you much luck, Kurt. We hope you have had a memorable and eventful year filled with happiness. We sincerely hope that our paths will cross again. Happy Birthday! Kurt Kurt revealed his musical talents as well as his scholastic ability. 50 KURT BUETTN ER This beats pushing a pencil if X i 5 Juniors Sl Officers and Advisors MILO ABRAMS CABOT DOW ARNOLD MARTIN MISS TRACEY LARRY DOLAN MR. This year's RE. classes were under the instruction of a teacher, Mrs. Saras. The girls were put through a somewhat faster pace than the year before, but they agreed that they had fun while participating in sports such as basketball, tennis, soccer, and even ping pong. BIOLOGY Biology, a required subject for sophomores, is filled with interest and knowledge pertaining to life and its mysterious functions. For instance, you learned the similarity between the internal system of man compared to that of a frog. This is certainly one of the many interesting classes offered to sophomores. is-wwfwfw-mwwaww NAU Oi HCI lllli f H IH' -Q like .wa .fps fan. ll Sl P S CLA cg an :T-K yi ,.. pl xg 'il GQ- as 70 1. BOYS' P.E. Push-ups, laps, basketballs, barbells, and trampolines all were ably coordinated by Mr. Glendenning, and aching but improved muscles were the order of the day. With small, informal and enjoyable classes the Sunnyside High School physical education department contributed its share to the fitness of America. ENGLISH 10 With our participles dangling, our antecedents misplaced, and our ignorance of Bill Shakespeare showing we rushed confidently into sophomore English. Under the careful tutelage of lVlrs. Brauer, Mrs. Slupsky, lVlr. Bethel, and lVlr. Slupsky we were quickly awakened to our naivete and fired with determination to command the language. ig l CIVIC! 43? .,L www' -mf .!5iM.1+ W V 'K fl 340661. 5525 fWaMWM f' if E2 pig? i ff WW 'fix S.H.S. . On the morning of March 9, 1962, about twenty-five members of Thespian Troupe 492 of Sunnyside High School traveled by bus to the Northwest Drama Festival held at the University of Washington. The group attended a dinner held on the same evening and then attended plays presented by college drama students. The next day workshops on makeup, stage production, and acting were held in the dramatic arts building on campus. Most of the group attended a luncheon at which the national director of the Thespian Society was the guest speaker. Saturday, March 10, our troupe was privileged to present 'The Anniversaryn for a critic given by one of the drama professors. Other plays were also given by other attending troupes from all over the state. Each Thespian attending received many pointers to help them in future Thespian work. I03 S.H.S. Gets Traditional Rings Thanks to the hard work of class of 1963 ring committee and an affirmative vote by the student body, Sunnyside High School has adopted a custom designed ring which has replaced the class rings of the past. This arrangement has pleased the majority of students and has become a part of our school, tradition adding a little more color to its history.
