The world problems class studies a generalized world history and all sections of the World. They observe very closely the world events of the day and try to compare them to some phase of history. Through this comparison they try to deter- mine the severeness and the effect that certain current events will have on history. All juniors are required to take United States History. Mr. Lind- quist is the teacher of this particu- lar class. They study the history, the government, and the problems of the United States. This year was a very busy and important year for the United States, so there was much to be studied. iff .,r K data sheets are some of the more important items discussed. The stu- dents learn what these are, how they are handled, and the importance ot each. I

WM The general business class is taught by Mr. Runyan. Through the school year the class touches on many subjects concerning business. Income tax, transportation, job ap- plications, meeting the public, and The majority of the seniors are in Mrs. Ludwig's English classes. The classes consist of a study of English literature, grammar review, vocabulary, theme Writing, book re- ports, and special reports. The ma- terial is covered very rapidly, and the students always have to be on their toes! 'ii Mrs. Roos instructs the speech students in various fields of speak- ing. The students learn speeches that inform, convince, and impress. Certain members of the speech class take part in forensic tourna- ments throughout the state. These students participate in the fields of debate, oral interpretation, oration, and extemporaneous speeches. From speech the students gain poise and confidence.

The drama class, taught by Mrs. Brauer, is a very active class. They study the fundamental principles of the theater and some of the theater's history. For their final test each student gives a fifteen minute program consisting of a pantomime, oral interpreta- tion, and play cutting. s at M LR ' Chemistry class is open to any high school studen and is taught by Mr. Anderson. From the text book and lectures the students learn the basic ideas dealing with certain chemical knowledge and discoveries. The students then work in the lab to try these ideas foi themselves. By working in the lab the students learr how to use the equipment and learn how to be care- ful. y Physical education is required for all sophomore students. Many group sports are played during the year along with other physical fitness programs. Miss Harris, the girls' physical education teacher, instructs the students in these programs and makes sure the rules are learned and sportsmanship carried out.
