In out-ward appearance they clearly resembled any other first grade class. But, oh, the minds they possessed! There is no need to ask who they were--- The class of '48, ofcourse! Our first grade teacher was Miss Scott. Those :four class who have spent all twelve years here are! 'llprothly Mitchell, Betty Jones, Jo Ann Lake,'Wanlta Gallogly, Trudy 231345, Mary Jane FaircH.ld'j. Jean Barcus, Dons Downing, Ted Gray, Jams Fishen and Evelyn Shoaf. - I ' Time passed swlfliyg filled with joys and sorrows, but on the whole, the next few years were very profitable. Our second grade teacher, was Miss Bond, whom we all idollzed. Miss Bishop, Miss Phillips, and Miss Beattle taught us in the three fcibuvjng years. During these years we picked up some new students: Robert Metzger, Margzerite Mallernee, Homer Baughman, Kathryn,Wh1sman Gallogly, Mary Compton, Hazel Doane, Ray Wirick, and Curtis Chandlery. In the fifth we had a Valentine Romance. Doris Downing re- ? 1 'A iii HQ W fiii ceived a box of candy from Bill Patton. We all envied Doris, but fi? were quite proud of her also. ' A A -T In the sixth grade we enjoyed our teacher, Mrs. Horlocker, who told us all the troubles of her Bulldog. ' Also we all likedtohbar ' her Squeaky organ and to sing SSM-I-L-E. Daring the year wehed a 155 Mid et Basketball team. g Our first man teacher was Mr. Crawford in the seventh grade. e E, This was his Hrst year at Sunbury. His son, Lee, and Herbert Ward B and Harold Chandler were added to our class enrollment. Wanita Gal- W11 lo l became one of our high school majorettes. ' f g yThen we finally made it to Mr. Ne1lson's eighth grade. This e year we learned quickly and learned the essentials we would need to ,B meet our high school requirements. We received two additional' men- B llriliax bers, Tom Kilbury and Bob Cheadle. Our Eighth Grade Class 'Play was Wildcat Willie in the Doghouse. We were now ready to become green WE? Freshmen. . In the year of,l9441i1e doors of Sunbury High School 'opened wide '.e. ffe' H if to admit a long line of intelligent folks. miter allcrlowngi Freslgi ff A men . This ear was one rand nightmare of a ' cs soc even Qffgf During gur Sophomore year we had many boys and girls from our 'fig room participating in the various sports andorganlzations. Two , lgli other new menbers: Helly Moore andCarolNinceha1ser joined our class. M ' The Junior-Senior Banquet will bee cherished in our memories H in forever, as the most succe,ssful1social event which we have had in- high school. This year Jo Ann Lake was chosen as the football homecoming queen. Bob Metzger, Herb Ward, Ted Gray, and Homer Baughman were W on the Delaware County Championship.BaB1-netball Team. They also helped - r 31:4 win the Draudt troph from Galena. New members were: Donna Clevenger gg, andFC1yde Gosnell. Our Junior Plly was Daffy D1lls. It was suc- .L as-if cessful to say the least. We have but another milestone to go be- Qff fore we reach our goal. A 3 ' Officers for our Senior year are: Bob Metzger, Herb Ward, Denis eg Downing, and Betty Jones. y This year we have a new member, Jo Ann .1 iii Evans. We sponsored a dance after the Homecoming Game, and havelhd ffg' -..- f'ff::3f other social events during the year. The Prom, at which we were en- tertained this year, was another social event which we all enjoyed ?fE1f4g5.1,QQ immensely. We shall never forget the good time the class of '49 S1 l:1i'gi1: SBVS 'LIS' ' jfgggfigtgg Sunday, May 16, came, bringng Baccalaureate Services andflnally EEEEQQKQ on May 20 we reached our goal -------- COMMENCEMENT. liililg We, the Senior Class, wish to thank all our teachers for the lessons they have taught us, and for all the many' things they have done for us during our High School days. There is one lesson that I have learned that stands in my mind, 'You can't get a blessed thing out of life if you don't put a blessed thing in. ..
