BASEBALL Sllllllll The baseball team completed a successful season by finishing second in the league. They were defeated only by Orange who Won the league title. In the tournament, Ostrander packed too much power and eliminated the Wildcats. Anson Knoderer, now in the Army, did the brunt of the pitching with Eddie Lake behind the bat. Neil Perfect at first base, Marvin Gallogly at second, Bill Smith at third, and Elmer Hollis at short composed the infield for the Wildcats. Bob Hart, Weldon Stockwell, and Glenn Martindale played the outfield, with Vernon Gallogly, Myron Shoaf and Don Shannon in reserve. With only three boys graduated from last year's team, the boys are looking forward to another successful season. 30

TRACK SUNBURY HIGH TRACK DELAWARE COUNTY CHAMPIONS The Wildcats took the track championship after a hard struggle with Berlin, 45 V2 to 43 V2. Ashley finished third with 18 points. Our leading scorers were Ioe Wilson and Pete Webb in the clashes. Points in the County Meet were also Won by Ault in the mile and 8280: Curnutte in the broad and high jump: Lake in the pole Vault: K. Galloqly in the discus and the 8:80 and mile relay teams. The boys made a favorable showing in the Central District Meet at Delaware. loe Wilson placed second in the 440 and Went on to the State Meet at Columbus. Pete Webb placed fifth in the 100 yard dash. Casey Ault, fifth in the mile run, and the 8:80 relay team of Wilson, Ault, Hollis and Webb placed fifth. We are looking forward to another championship this year. 31
