OPENING OAT SEPTEMBER 9. 1981 s0uVENlRs SPECTRUM 1982 SUN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL ASTON. PENNSYLVANIA DEDICATION Mr. Edward Kozlowski Our past three years at Sun Val- ley have been filled with triumphs and failures. When we have suc- ceeded, as with our proms, the good feelings have pulled us through our bad times. One man has pulled us through those many ups and downs, Mr. Edward Koz- lowski, and for this reason, we, the Class of 1982, dedicate our year- book to him. He has been a true man for all seasons, and he has demonstrated this through his to- tal devotion to our class. He is solely responsible for unifying our class and making us into one of the best classes to ever come through Sun Valley High School. From last minute decorating for proms, to the long and involved Senior Variety Show, Mr. Koz- lowski has always been there as an advisor and friend. Thank you, “Koz”! We will always be grateful! APPRECIATION Miss Natalie Densmore Natalie Densmore, our guidance counselor, has done much to steer us towards graduation. Problems, great or small, are her daily menu. Did you ask for Psychology and get Wood Shop? Did the computer schedule you for Physics and 3-D Design at the same time? No prob- lem! Miss Densmore can straight- en crooked rosters. Are you torn between Bricklaying and Brain Surgery? No problem! Miss Dens- more can define your options. Have you received scholarship of- fers from Harvard and “Hacken- sack Tech”? Still, no problem! Miss Densmore to the rescue. Whether for hectic schedule changes, career information, or college guidance, her door has al- ways been open to us. Thank you, Miss Densmore. Mr. Robert Moran A teacher whom we have all really appreciated through our years here at Sun Valley has been Mr. Robert Moran. Many have known him through his science classes, Honor Society, the Beatles Assembly, Monty Pythons, or just as a friend. He has been dedicated to making life here more reward- ing, more interesting, more bear- able, and more enjoyable. He has always stressed having people work together and having fun. He likes to see students enjoying school and believes the best way for them to do this is to get in- volved in extracurricular activi- ties. This explains his reasoning for sponsoring so many of these activities. His warm, friendly na- ture makes everyone feel willing to discuss any problem with him. We would like to thank this fine man for all he has done for us. Mrs. Elizabeth Irons The services of Mrs. Elizabeth Irons are greatly appreciated by all. She has been here at Sun Val- ley for many years. Throughout these years she has administered to both the physical and emotion- al health of many students. Be- cause of this, she has become a valuable asset to those who at- tended this institution. Her good sense of humor and her caring attitude have won her the respect and friendship of both students and faculty alike. Mrs. Irons is a warm, friendly, thought- ful and perceptive individual. Her great understanding of people has contributed in making her an ex- cellent nurse. She gives a great deal of herself to the students and faculty at “the Valley” each day; and although not many take the time to say thank you, her services are appreciated by all. Mr. Richard P. Miller When we think of people we have appreciated knowing and working with here at Sun Valley, we cannot fail to include Mr. Richard P. Miller. He, along with Mr. Bolyard, has been an assistant principal for our three years as students here. He also works at co- ordinating the Health Physical Education program. Although we have known him when he acts in his role as a disciplinarian, we have also known him to be a ter- rific person. He takes a personal interest in our class and supports us in many activities. He also takes a personal interest in each individual student at Sun Valley, and is willing to help them in any way possible. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank him for all his services. 5 THE TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE Minute By Minute As we rise each morning, the day’s events flash through our minds. We smile thinking of that special guy or girl we hope realizes our uniqueness, and shudder thinking about the exam for which we didn’t have time to study. Catching the bus on time seems like a monumental achievement, only to cringe when fighting the bump entering the parking lot. We greet our aquaintances in the hall- way and scream to our closest friend the latest piece of gossip. Those hours apart seem likes weeks when news is spreading. Visiting our uniform lockers, we collect the books, pencils, pens, and munchies necessary to get us through the long morning hours. We listen to the announcement girls reel off the latest sports re- sults, student achievements, and most attentively for those stu- dents summoned to the audito- rium. The bell sounds, beginning our day of books, notetaking, study halls, and of course, gym class. Gym has always been some- thing either loved or hated. Dur- ing the balmy spring days, shorts and a t-shirt were inviting; howev- er, those chilling fall days forced questioning of the system. As the day passes, anticipation for lunch grows. “What’s for lunch?” is re- peated in hallways and classrooms alike. Lunch, a time for talking and relaxing between classes, is also the time for satisfying those midday hunger pains. As the 2:15 bell nears, we watch each move- ment of the clock. Although classes have finished, athletes be- gin practicing, committees begin meeting; but, for those who are riding the bus home—a sigh. Homework awaits, as does a night’s sleep. We awaken to repeat the cycle once again. Through the regularity, we remember our ups, downs, fears, and joys of those not-so-typical days as a Sun Val- ley student. 6 SOPHOMORE YEAR A New Beginning Thinking back on our sophomore year, we should smile and giggle; for there are several engravings on our minds and souls. Our first day at Sun Valley was filled with nerves and instabilities; nevertheless, the excitement shone through. A new place, new friends to make, and new activities to involve ourselves in. all created an irresis- table pride of actually attending high school! This year left not only our child- hood years behind, but simultaneously started a new decade, a new' start, and a new life-style. Karly in the year, most set goals, whether they be for exceptional grades or outstanding athletic perfor- mances. This year was unique as our prin- cipal, Mr. Charles Fitzgerald left, and Dr. A. Robert Cenname assumed his position. This transition promoted and shaped the year, from the bonfire warming our hearts the night proceeding the Thanksgiving Day football game, through our Soph Hop. The band captured the Atlantic Coast Championship in Group II. starting their wave of future success. The wrestling team also earned a championship as the Del Val Champions in 1980. Conforming to the Sun Valley example, the IS A Hockey Team threw the nation into a frenzy, stealing the gold from a stunned USSR team. Economi- cally. the price of gold started its journey toward exorbitancy. Statewide, gas became scarce, resulting in rationing and lines ex- ceeding credibility. In all his splendor. Pope John Paul II visited the “City of Brotherly Love.” But this joy faded as the l .S. Embassy fell to fanatical Iranian stu- dents who terrorized the nation exceeding a year. In Hollywood, there were raised eyebrows as the production of highly charged films such as The Deer Hunter stunned many organizations. Sci-Fi swept the moviegoers of the country with the continued success of Star liars. These highlights of our sophomore year supplied the stimulus to improve with each semes- ter and relish every moment. It truly was a new beginning! One Step Closer Finding ourselves at the crux of our high school days, we felt part of the action. Si- multaneously. we were constantly remind- ed that we must plan for the future, al- though it seemed so far away. This re- quired visiting college representatives in the career center, choosing an occupation, and taking the SAT’s. Yet another obstacle to happiness remained—driver’s ed. How- ever tedious were those forty-five minute sessions, they supported us as we bid for a license. The success of our prom resulted from hours of rigorous, yet enjoyable, work. The days early hours found the com- mittee still decorating diligently. The foot- ball team discovered success as well by capturing the Del Val AAA Champ- ionship. The band enjoyed an At- lantic Coast Championship in Group III, continuing their trail of triumph. Philadel- phia became the “City of Champions” as the Phillies threw the city into baseball hysteria with their World Series Victory. The Eagles soared high in 1980, rewarding their loyal fans with a trip to New Orleans and Super Bowl XV. During Mr. Reagan’s inaugural festivities, President Carter suc- ceeded in compromising with the Iranian captors. This affected most American citi- zens. accounting for a unity foreign to America since the pre-Vietnam era. Wak- ing from dormancy Mt. St. Helens erupted, drawing geologists from across the country to the foot of this natural wonder. Howev- er, weighting America’s excitement, the tragedy of a New York City murder over- came the world’s emotions. Former Beatle and peace activist John Lennon suffered fatal gunshot wounds, resulting in univer- sal grief and turmoil. Obsessions, such as horror films, the Rubik’s Cube, General Hospital, soccer, and Cable TV entertained us throughout the school year. But none was so great as to overshadow Dallas. “Who shot J. R.?”, entangled the thoughts of over ten million Americans, shattering all previous television rating records. Stu- dents sought consolation following the dis- bandment of Led Zeppelin; plus the real- ization that they were overwrought with senioritis, and not yet seniors! Our junior year fulfilled and prepared us in a manner deserving commendation. We gained ex- perience and grew, bringing us one step closer. 10 J-yXJy. Our Social Studies de- partment has answered this ques- tion, and taught us much in the process. We students now realize that the past is important, as a sort of reflection of today; it helps us to see where we have been and where we are going. Not only have we studied the roots of our own nation, as well as those of others, but our teachers have presented us with objective explanations, al- lowing us to form our own view- points. In addition, we have had the opportunity to think of solu- tions for existing world problems. HOWARD S. BROUDA, M.A. 10 years X. ROBERT L. COLLIER, M.A. 20 years ANTHONY F. We suffered through “stereotronics” projects in Ac- counting I, and survived the “Wade and Nash” project in II. We learned every facet of gram- mar in Business English, until we hated prepositions, adverbs, and gerunds! We endured endless Business Math classes, but finally realized that it was more than mere addition and subtraction! In Typing I, we labored over manual typewriters, to discover that when we finally got to use electric in II and III, we were expected to type twice as fast! Yes, the road to busi- ness success was a rocky one, but our teachers made it much smoother. JAN L. DUNCAN, M.Ed. 12 years 30 CAROLYN M. SOROKA, M.A. 12 years PAUL R. STYER, M.A. 18 years JOHN F. The Art De- partment created many great por- jects, and also got involved in oth- er things, such as mini-poster con- test and a contest in Harrisburg. And who could forget those “stained glass” creations gracing our windows at Christmas? As one can see, the Fine Arts department made many worthwhile contribu- tions to Sun Valley. MARGUERITE D. Those are all the things that every Sun Vallian must go through for their exis- tence at the Valley. Admittedly, most of us have always thought about gym in the negative sense. “I hate field hockey,” or “Look what the wind does to my hair!” are a few of the more popular sayings in gym class. However, we were lucky here because our gym teachers made an honest effort to take the drudgery out of gym and put the fun back in and the popu- lar consensus was that they did. These classes provide an opportunity for us to work with our hands and minds, rather than just with our minds. Instead of be- ing tied to a desk, taking notes, reading, writing, and taxing our brains, we have a chance to create with our minds and fulfill with our hands through the construc- tion of a finished, beautiful prod- uct. HOME ECONOMICS GERALDINE D. LONG, M.S. GENEVIEVE V. RITZMAN, 21 years M.S. Home Economics Coordinator 11 years JESSICA M. ROSENBERG, B.S. 4 years Our Home Economics depart- ment helped us deal with a vital side of our futures — the domestic aspect, marriage, cooking, sewing — everything! Our Marriage and Parenting course taught us to be good parents and spouses, learn- ing to deal with married life and children. In Creative Cooking, we learned the basics of good cooking, while having lots of fun and satis- fying our munchies. Remember the demonstrations and different dishes: preserves, pies, turkey and stuffing, biscuits, and even food from different countries. Finally, Needlecraft was the ultimate course in creating with our hands. Decorative wall-hangings, cro- cheting and knitting were all im- portant to our course. With the help of Mrs. Long, Mrs. Ritzman, and Mrs. Rosenberg, we have learned the skills to lead a domes- tically productive life. 35 VO TECH 36 WORK EXPERIENCE 37 36 ROTC JOHN R. MISSING: Barbara Wells. Numerous cooks and custodians create a pleasant atmosphere at Sun Valley. This helps to cushion the sometimes uncomfortable transitions experienced by high school teens. Students depend on them simply to get through the day. Their dedication is truly re- markable and noteworthy, conse- quently, deserving recognition. Thanks applies for the hard work of these caring individuals. 39 mm SOPH HOP With all of the new experiences we were confronted with in our Sophomore year, the one event that brought the biggest sense of accomplishment took place on March 22, 1980—our Soph Hop. The diligent Soph Hop committee worked long and hard for the big night. Everything from stars to moons to sparkling raindrops fell magically into place, and, in no time at all, the transformation from a cafeteria to a starry won- derland took place. With the theme of “Midnight Magic,” the couples spent the evening in the heavens. MIDNIGHT JUNIOR PROM Nights In White Satin Looking back on it, a lot of us might have called it “the night that almost wasn’t.” However, the long months and hard hours of work (right up until 5:00 PM on prom night) were well worth our efforts. The night was April 25, 1981 and at 8:00 PM, the 212 cou- ples entered our medieval para- dise. Our theme was “Nights in White Satin” and our evening was spent in a castle setting. As each couple entered into our kingdom through our custom-made draw- bridge, their eyes were treated to the beautiful sights of the tapes- tries that included pictures of dragons, horses, knights in shining armor, and ladies-in-waiting. The music was supplied by one of the top bands in our area, the “Num- bers”, and their great sounds made our Junior Prom even more enjoyable. A special thanks went to Mr. Kozlowski and the prom committee for all their hard work that went towards making our Ju- nior Prom one of the greatest in Sun Valley’s history. HOMECOMING The stage was set! It was October 30, 1981, a cold, crisp, clear Friday night. The game against Nether Providence was engrossing but the entire crowd was tense, waiting for the announcement. Halftime finally came. The band lined up on the side line quietly. The an- nouncer, Gerri Kuehn, read each girl’s list of credentials. Then the big mo- ment-everyone nervous and hopeful. The verdict- our homecoming queen for 1981 was Nicole Emmi! The band went wild on the other side, cheering for their feature twirler. Nicole’s escort was Paul Mattes, and the rest of the court was as follows: Tricia Larkin, escort- Bob Kostes; Sue Soscia escort- Pat Wel- lorok; Cindy Bocella, escort- Ken No- votni; Bernadette Haday, escort- Nick Davey; and Denise Nyce, with her es- cort -Dave Lanciano. Even though there was only one winner, all girls were worthy, beautiful candidates. STANDING (L to R): Sue Soscia. Bernadette Haday. Nicole Rromi, Trish Larkin, Denise Nyce, Cindy Boccella. MISS CHI Ready, willing, and able were 1981’s crop of Chichester lovelings. Their beauty surpassed credibility as our gym became a runway for the annual Miss Chi Pageant. Six brave football players banded together and collected money to be put towards Christmas baskets benefiting the area’s less fortunate. The contestants varied in approach and style. Ralph LaSpina, alias Mathilda the Hon, wowed the crowd and escort Chris Savage with an arm tattooed “Chris.” Bill Hovis, alias Wihlomena Borkey, surprised escort Jeff Miller by parading in a revealing and shapely minidress. Breathtaking Derek Hutch- inson, alias Roxanne Dunn, stunned ev- eryone as she, escorted by Kurt Nee- dles, turned more heads than Bo Derek in “10.” Charmer Drew Kriebel, alias Andrea Singley, left escort Bill Morey awestruck with her designer shower cap. Luscious Kevin Mertz; alias Dan- ielle Kennard, captivated escort Don Morgan with a little leg and dainty hik- ing boots. Last, yet certainly not least, The Future Miss Chi 1981 . .. Joe Zap- pala, alias Josephine Fanelli, stole the judges’ hearts modeling her coordinat- ed white patent leather handbag and shoes. Ms. Fanelli, accompanied by Chuck Laughlin, graced Sun Valley stu- dents by gliding around the gym follow- ing her dubbing by M.C. Chris Berge- man. Receiving a sash, crown, cape, and weed assortment, she waved graciously and thanked those who made this hon- or possible. CHRISTMAS BALL The annual Christmas Ball was again a huge success. With the theme of Winter Wonderland and music by Sun Valley’s own “Sanc- tuary,” the seventy-five couples in attendance danced in the snowy wonderland that was once our cafeteria. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the 1981 Christmas Ball Queen - Ber- nadette Haday, and her court: Jeane Naef, Mitzy St. Clair, Jeanne Bonacquisti, Doreen Bee- cher, Kathy McKniff, and Christy Farris. Many thanks go to Mr. Giampalmi and the Christmas Ball committee who made the night such a memorable night for all. _____ Do You Remember When . . . -you first walked into Sun Valley? -you were a scared little sophomore? -you were a sophomore counting down the days until graduation? -you took your first Chemistry test? -decorating for the Junior Prom went until 6:00 p.m. on the day of the prom? -we had a drama club? -you had to go outside in the freezing cold weather for gym? -the school had no heat for three days but we still came? -Mr. Fithian had his 100th win? -you could talk during student unions? -Mr. Kramer sang Mickey Mouse infront of the class? -the band was allowed to have a band fair? -the pep rallys were really rowdie? -carnation day turned into rose day? -Lunches were 50 t? -the band won Atlantic Coast Champions again and again and again! -Miss Magro said she would never get married? -kissing in the halls wasn’t a major felony? -lunches were good? The art of “taking it easy,” while involving ourselves in as many activities as possible, seemed a breeze to master. Our portraits returned, and despite the complaints and retakes, everyone enjoyed ex- changing photos. If that weren’t enough, measuring for caps and gowns, as well as ordering announcements, edged us closer to independence. The rush began as students re-took their SAT’s, filled out applications, rushed in processing, and waited. (Oh, how we waited!) The colleges to which we applied needed visitation, mostly on school time. The changes in the Valley were few, consisting of the arrival of parking permits and the transformation of our soccer field into a Superdome. Our days off also suffered alteration, in that April’s Spring Break became Janu- ary’s Energy Saving Days. The social occasions that year seemed to be “ours”; ours to organize, ours to decorate, ours to attend. The Christmas Ball of 1981 was indeed a senior success story. The Variety Show organization began in December for the May premiere. Many hours of practice, hard work and dedication seemed all worth it, as the curtain fell and the celebrating began. Miss Chi 1981, Joe Zappala, dubbed the day before Thanksgiving, brought smiles to our faces, as well as thanks from the needy families to whom the proceeds went. We also eagerly awaited the Prom at the Hotel Du Pont, an affair worth remembering. Success reigned as the band repeated, for the third consecutive year, the Atlantic Coast Championship in Group III. In sports, soccer captain Dave Thompson broke all SV records for most goals scored in a season. All-Delco Derek Hutchinson lead the Vanguards to a respectable football season and a Thanksgiving Day victory. Sun Valley’s seniors lent their hearts to those in Philadelphia School District, as the longest strike in history consumed their year. Another strike ruined many people’s dreams, as the Major League Baseball Players Associ- ation carried their strike beyond credibility. Scores of SV students rocked as the Rolling Stones began their U.S. tour in Philadelphia. Graduation was our final impression of the Valley, and with fear, tears, joy and hope, we faced the future. Remeniscing encourages a sea of memories, all of the days when we thought “we’d made it,” only to face yet another mountain to climb, again finding a new beginning.” Not pictured: Historian: Patty Me Garvey Advisor: Mr. Kozlowski Secretary: Gerri Kuehn Treasurer: Mitzy St. Clair WHO’S WHO Tony Kushner- Tony is a talented member of our class, active in Year- book (Art and Layout Editor) and Honor Society. One can never say too many compli- mentary things about our cheerleaders, and our 1981-82 squad earned every last compliment! Under the experienced, motherly eye of Miss Duncan, and the en- thusiastic, spirited leadership of Kathy Sculley and Diane Messick, our cheer- leaders screamed, jumped, shouted, and cheered our teams to victory. Who could forget their precarious, dangerous pyra- mids, their amazing acrobatics, or their creative cheers. Whether valiantly trying to arouse the student body at a pep rally or competing against other cheerleading squads, our girls showed that true school spirit involves - dedication, enthusiasm, and pride! And on Thanksgiving Day our guys ended their season with an even more satis- fying win over Chichester, avenging an earlier two point defeat on Octo- ber 10. All of this was accomplished with a staggering amount of injuries on key players. But our guys did it, and even put a few on the All-Delco team to boot! Derek Hutchinson made the first team for offense, while Ralph LaSpina made the second team for defense, and many guys made honorable mention. Our men constantly beat the odds and showed their true colors- blue and gold- the colors of winners! 114 VARSITY St. James Penncrest Nether Prov. In ter boro Chichester Chester Nether Prov. Most of the people at Sun Val- ley agree that soccer at the “Val- ley” has become increasingly pop- ular in the past few years, and with the addition of night games to the schedule, more people have gotten the chance to see our Van- guards play. This season the fans were not disappointed. Under the direction of coaches Owsley and Grassano, the 1981 Vanguard Soc- cer squad has been able to leave quite a mark on Sun Valley’s re- cord books. For only the second time in school history, our mighty Vanguards took on the always tough Harriton Rams and came out victorious by a score of 4-2. Many felt that this was a fluke, but once again the Vanguards proved them wrong by ending up with a tremendous overall record of 8-4-5, the second best in Sun Valley Soccer history. Another milestone for the Vanguards this year was the breaking of the re- cord for most goals in a season, set by Tibor Lehotay in 1977. This task was completed by one of our captains, Dave Thompson. The Vanguards also sent five players to the 1981 All-Delco soccer squad. KNEELING (L to R : Chuck Shanko. Greg Saunders. Glenn Diehl. John Haday. Frank Ferzetti, Eric Madison. John Rosato. Most memorable are: long bus rides to Collingdale, Lansdowne, and Harriton; pre-game jitters; the last match (at Lansdowne) and getting home late; windy, cold practices; and the singing (?) of the Alma Mater. Also notable is the girls’ participation in the Del Val A District Tournaments. Kathy Blythe, Maureen Grey, and Paula Klimas, who advanced to the quarter finals, played singles. In Sun Valley every year is a ban- ner year for our mat grapplers, and the 1981-82 season was no ex- ception. Although we finished sec- ond in the Del-Val A league, our overall record was a tremendous 17-1-1. The J.V. team kept their three- year unbeaten streak alive by clos- ing out this year with an undefeat- ed season. The dedication of our two coaches, Mr. Chuck Grassano and Mr. Joe Kramer, as well as the Wrestlerettes, shows how simple it is to change what once was an unpopular sport to one of the big- gest at Sun Valley. Congratula- tions on a fantastic year! 133 SENIORS SWIM TEAM 1st ROW (L to R): Kathy Bowe, Dina Kutcher, Tracey Myers, Ann-Marie Tyson, Mike Monaghan. 2nd ROW: Kathy Reeves, Jenny Grace, Jeanne Stankavage, Danielle Strano, Sherri Henderson, Beth Kelly. 3rd ROW’: Bill Bradley, Debbie Sunick, Carol Grace, Sherry Brusstar, Mike Robb. The creation of our swim team brought Sun Valley sports fans fresh excitement. Al- though the season appeared dis- couraging, the team built the foundations for improvement through error and analysis. Ann Marie Tyson found Northley’s waters agreeable, as she set four regular season records including the 50 yard freestyle (26.33), 100 yard freestyle (56.92), 200 yard freestyle (2:05.94), and 100 yard butterfly (1:05.85). At the P. I. A. A. District Meet, Ann Marie placed seventh in the 50 yard freestyle (25.86) and 100 yard but- terfly (1:03.15). She also competed in the state meet with guidance from Coach Ann MacDonald. The second year it happened, it was even more in- crodible. Two yearn in a row, a feat accomplished by only a chosen few bands. But a third year-come on now, that’s really pushing it! No other band had ever done that! Imagine the immeasurable joy when the announcer declared, And the Group III Atlantic (’oast Champions for 1981 with a score of 89.76-Sun Valley High School Marching Band!” The44 hat-trick” was complete, and so was our sen- ior year, for without this win, we might have felt cheated or let down. But our time, our love, and our devotion to SUN” was just too much for the other bands. Who could ever forget Pete saying, Back do it again.” and chanting SUN” before competitions? Of course we will always remember Ralph who wrote a championship drill every year! And the list goes on and on- memories of bus trips, competitions, football games, and practices. But the memories are more than this. They are rem- nants of a time when we learned to win, while learning to laugh, cry, love, hate, but most importantly to realize our full potential! 1981 COMPETI TI ON SCORES West Deptford 78.10 Sun Valley 78.75 Ridley 80.26 Chichester 82.40 Bensalem 84.50 Woodbury 87.70 Chapter 111 Championship 84.45 Atlantic Coast Championship 89.75 HAND DIR ROTOR Mr Stauffer DRUM MAJOR: Kathy Webb. These people have unselfishly given of their time to assist in making our book, Souvenirs, one of the best in Sun Valley’s history. Most of all, we would like to thank Mrs. Marguerite MacDonald, whose dedicated and untir- ing efforts were an inspiration to the entire staff. Her ability to stay calm in the most desperate situations helped us to stay on an even keel. We would also like to thank the office secretaries: Mrs. Jean MacBain, Mrs. Ruth Rhoads, and Mrs. Ruth Win- bourn who constantly came up with solutions to our seemingly endless list of unsolvable problems. To Dr. A. Robert Cenname, Mr. Richard Miller, and Mr. Kenneth Bolyard, whose constant support enabled us to complete our task. To Zamsky Studios, who were always available whenever they were needed; we owe a debt of gratitude. A standing ovation is in order for Zamsky photographer Jon Wilson, whose interest in our annual was an indispensable factor in its production. Mr. Wilson’s dedication required him to stay at Sun Valley until 6:30 one night—very few would do a thing like that—we thank you. Mr. W’illiam O’Brien of Josten’s American Yearbook Company deserves our heartfelt thanks. His guidance and perseverance is reflected in this volume. To Mr. William Booth for his sports pictures, and Mr. Patrick Hughes for his band picture; we wish to express our thanks. Thanks is also in order for Mr. Robert Moran, whose generosity enabled us to present our slide show. Finally we wish to thank the faculty of our school for their guidance and co- operation. Our years at Sun Valley have drawn to a close. And though we now part, we are bound together by a common bond. We, the Spectrum 1982 staff, have tried, and we believe succeeded, in capturing the highlights of our three year experience. Along the way we have collected many memories. These memories will be with us forever. They are our souvenirs. nmrw •v • . -c • • ' v' ?£ !' ■,V ;,,,' • fv V ;4 §
