YVe met him with his harsh exterior, but soon, found warmth and confidence in him. The door to Room 1Q6 was always open, as was his heart, Jo ou efrary whim We, the class of 1976, with love and respect, dedicate our year- book to Mr. Grassatio 16 (vtvOlW, His knowledge i and guidance have helped us thrmigh many difficult times. In appreciation for his genuine interest in the Class of 1976, we honor Or. Zechman. Now the time has come for you to “stand tall” in the world and in the words of Hubbard to be loyal ... to act promptly . . . concentrate your energies . . . do a thing. By acting in this manner you will demonstrate the meaningfulness of your education Best wishes for success, VVm. G. Moser Superintendent of Schools Penn Delco School District Central Administration, FRONT ROW (L TO R): Arthur C. Kretz (Assistant Superintendent Finance and Facilities), William C. Moser (Superintendent of Schools), Theodore F. Cramer (Assistant Superintendent Staff Relations). BACK ROW Bernard E. Nurry (Director of Curriculum). As members of the graduating class of 1976, you have been recognized for your role in the commemoration of our nation's Bicentennial celebration. The accomplishments of you—as leaders of the Sun Valley student body—have been, however, not limited to activities within this realm, for you have distinguished yourselves in both curricular and extra-curricular programs of this high school. It seems, moreover, the most salient feature of you as a senior class has been the manner in which you have molded your individual personalities into one and thus have given character to Sun Valley. The faculty—to a person—recognizes and values your personable nature and the friendliness which you have brought into the classrooms and hallways. As principal, I can only wish you the best, for you have been the outstanding senior class in scholastic achievement and should continue to meet success in the future! Dr. Harry T. Zechman HARRY T ZECHMAN Temple University I) Fxl Principal 7 yrs. DR. ZECHMAN: a living legend 21 Our assistant principals, Mr. Bolyard, Mr. Miller, and Mr. Tredinnick were always on the scene at Sun Valley High. Giving detentions, patrolling the halls and hanging signs were their more notable tasks. But, they became personally involved with each of us. In good times as well as bad, they remained consistent, treating each student individually yet equally. Mr. Bolyard, Mr. Miller, and Mr. Tredinnick added a spark to our years at Sun Valley that could not be extinguished. GUIDANCE: charting the course Beyond the always open doors of the guidance office there were four concerned individuals whose role was to help with our problems. To aid those students who were unsure or troubled about their present and future, may have at times proven to be difficult. However, with understanding and a strong dedication to the students of Sun Valley, the guidance staff fulfilled an omnipresent need. 23 From Biblical times, to the Shakespearian Era, to the modern age, the world has produced many literary creations. Together we have built many lasting friendships and have had many memorable moments. In all. we have gained experience; however, that is now the past. It is time for us to move toward the hopes of our future, but as we do so we must move as individuals. There is a world outside with many oppor- tunities awaiting all of us. It is a necessity, thus, to take advantage of this new and different world. We must make our dreams a reality! If you’ve built castles in the air, that is fine, for that is where they should be—now build the foundations beneath them.—Thoreau Good luck in all your ventures, JulieS. Levin Secretary: Merilee Duffy SENIOR OFFICERS: the big five These were the class officers of 1976, our leaders. Often times their jobs were mis- understood and their work went unnoticed. But they, along with Mr. Grassano, tried to make our years at Sun Valley unique, and they succeeded. Historian: Jeannie McElwee Karin Ascnavage The faculty had difficulties in limiting the number of outstanding seniors elected to Who’s Who, since leadership, scholarship, and involve- ment formed the basis for their selection. The majority were chosen for achievements in the arts or athletics and most were superior in academies while others were business whizzes. But, they were all well-rounded individuals aptly reflecting our unique class. They were the Who’s Who of 1976.
