Yes, you’re right; they still do this dedication thing in yearbooks. Why? Because, for every class that graduates (and writes a yearbook) there is one faculty member who stands out in par- ticular, one man or woman who has had a strong effect on the class. The Class of 1970 has chosen to acknowledge the guidance and assistance of Mr. Francis Dow- ney. Our adviser for three years, this man has been interested in the class and has given of him- self. To refer to Mr. Downey is to draw reference to a part of ourselves, because he has left his mark upon the Class as a unit and as individuals. From directing class functions to patroling the lunchroom to coaching the basketball teams, Mr. Downey has been with the Class of 1970. He has shared our interests, concerns, and future plans. In this way we, the Senior Class of Sun Valley High School, express our appreciation, by dedicating the 1970 Spectrum to Mr. Francis Downey.
