Morris, Ir. , newly ap- pointed Director of Sumter TEC brings to this position a varied background in education, having both teaching and ad- ministrative eXperience through the Junior College level . He earned his doctorate at the Uni- versity of Southern Mississippi with a major in Educational Administration , and a minor in Educational Research. He maintains membership in National professional associations , and is a mem- ber of educational , scholastic , and leadership honor societies. Having an outstanding appreciation of Technical education, Dr. Morris's first year at TEC has brought about new attitudes and ideas from the student body, faculty, and admistrative staff. I? Samuel J . Haas . The Industrial Service Represent- ative maintains constant liaison with industries to keep them aware of TEC's programs, services. and facilities. He relates current and projected industrial require- ments to TEC programs. He maintains strong com- munity contact and works closely with organizations to improve the general economics of the area through expansion or improvement of industry. Lake E. Terrell , Ir. . Dean of Extension School has overall r63ponsibi1ity for administration and imple- mentation for both evening curriculum and non-cur- riculum programs conducted in the main center and various satellite centers. He initiates extension school programs, interviews. and makes recommendations on prospective instructors. Samual I . Haas Industrial Service Representative Region 9 Lake E. Terrell, Jr . Dean of Extension School Ed Lofton Asst. Dean of Extension School Ed Lofton , Asst. Dean of Extension School, assists the Dean of Extension in the administra- tive duties of the extension school. He counsels prospective evening students and supervises the in center night school programs. John William Pace , Director of Admissions , coordinates with the admissions committee to determine admission standards for all programs. A. x He is responsible for recruitment, testing, and John William Pace placing students in various programs and super- Director of Admissions visas or monitors other counseling at TEC . He assists in scheduling and conducts registration and public relations matters. 2I 22 Edward H. McDowell. Field Representative, as- sists the Director of Admissions in the areas of re- cruiting, counseling, and placement of students. He performs allied duties as assigned. Herman Smalls is on temporary duty at TEC through Project Transition prior to release from the U. S. Ar- my. Principe, the Business Manager, is respon- sible for budgeting and finds accounting . and assures that funds are spent in the areas for which they were allocated. He supervises the maintainance and of- iice staffs in addition to the equipment coordinator. . m 2.. i Louis F. Principe Business Manager Joseph 0. Ramsey , the coordinator of Planning and Grants maintains liaison with private, state, and federal agencies for the purpose of obtaining funds to aid stu- dents and to carry out the required programs. It is his responsibility to report student pro- gress and fund use to these agencies. 391 Joseph 0 . Ramsey Coordinator of Plans , Grants and Student Financial Aid It is the job of the equipment coordina- tor to assure that serviceable, authorized Dom Cerra equipment is available to support the TEC Eqvipment Coordinator programs . Dot Jordan Accounting Clerk 27 28 Maintenance Staff A large lawn and parking area; a maze of plumbing; hundreds of yards of electrical wiring: lighting, air-conditioning, heating and the cleaning and repair of labs , class rooms and lounges keeps the main- tenance staff busy. Flexibity is built into the curriculm of this division to meet the changing needs of undustry and to provide qualified personnel to meet the growing demands. A considerable portion of the student's time is spent developing mainipulated skills. To accomplish this goal the ratio of lab to classroom work is quite high. We've been working on the problem since the 40's when we began installing dust collectors and building cooling lakes at our gen- erating plants to protect air and water quality. Asthe problem has grown. so has our concern. For example over the next six years we are commiting $25 million toward equipping our new plants with the best pollution control devices. In addition. we have earmarked another million dollars for engineering studies aimed at making our existing plants more compatible with environmental concerns.
