Cla s s H1 story ln 1950 slxteen small green1sh freshmen came up the squeaky stalrs to the now all too famlllar study hall then a strange room 1n wh1ch all new comers seemed to be treated as anlmals 1n a zoo Of course we were greeted by the senlors and much made over by the teachers We chose Mlss Ralns as our class sponsor and 1n October we gave a 1-lolloween party for the studert body The class enrollment 1ncreased to e1ghteen w1th Roger Kenney of Bertrand and Dale Rlce of Ansley Jo1n1ng us durlng the year The fall of 1951 arrlved much too soon for most of the clan but even so we st1l1 had a total of elghteen classmates but later 1n the year Roger Kenney and Dale Rlce dlscontlnued March found us lncreased by Jerry Stowe of Cambrldge maklng our f1nal total seventeen not countlng our class sponsor Mr Steyer J 1S for Junlor and thls year the class enrollment began wlth slxteen Charolotte Neth havlng dlscontlnued durlng the summer Later we lost two more classmates 1 amely Dean Luckett and Dude Ladwlg The class play Backwoods Romeo was chosen and presented 1n November Mr Steyer was trlcked 1nto be1ng our class sponsor agaln th1s year and was of much carrled out the theme Garden 1n the Raln' I-lavlng mlnds of great or1g1nal1ty we dec1ded we should llke to have a seml formal banquet whlch we d1d Havlng decreased to the whole sum of thlrtcen w1th Mary Hatch leavlng us to attend chool 1n Lexlngton we as senlors began our last stretch of the best tlme 1n our llfc Mr Thlcsteld our sponsor and Mr Stafford our co sponsor managed to get the class r1ngs our Jlcturcs taken and our annual wt ll under control by the be g1nn1ng of the second semester Verlyn Eby b1d us adleu at the beglnnlng of the second semester therefore maklng us an even dozen to go on sneak day present our class play and at last graudate Thls concludes the brelf perlod of tlrne spent ln old S H S for the sen1ors of '54 CLASS FLOWER Lllac CLASS COLORS Lllac and Sllx er CLASS MOTTO lf NG rest we rust 13 O ! ! - - , , J . . . . , .
