Since the beginning of the wrestling program at Sum- ner five years ago, the matmen have grown in strength and have received honors in this sport. Sumner wrestlers traveled to State for the first time this year and all three seniors placed in the 32 school com- petition at State. Eddie Gilmore and Virgil Smith placed fifth and Melvin Lee, seventh, in the 4 A competition. For a very successful season the team compiled a 6-2 record. Although the team has completed a good season both Coach Carter and Coach Mason expect an even finer season next year. SUMNER SCOREBOARD 36-21 Rosedale 6-51 S.M.
