Highlight of the Season play and rough-house rebounding smoothed some of the bumps through the season. With this sort of play the Spartans showed the power they had as they passed last year's mark by taking the Re- gional 4-A Championship and by going to State, almost a tradition of Sumner High. Despite the 1 l-10 season of the Spartans good things will benefit from it. The '73 season was ajunior-heavy team which leads to a prediction for the future. The '73-'74 season Will put the Spartans back on the track toward another un- defeated State Championship team. Rodney Tolefree victorious smile and Co-Captain Michael Bailey, Sumner's leading 'Merle Johnson, Kexdn Fouse, Michael Maddox, and Bert Hendrick. in in 'ilk Avoiding a tumble in the 4A Regional Tournament is Rodney Tolfree Sumner's second leading scorer.

umner Takes 4A Regional Championship, Snatching away a rebound in the 4-A Regional Tournament is Joe Hibler, three year varsity player. For the Sumner Spartans basketball team, this was the season of upsets. With the players Sumner had, all with such great in- dividual ability to play, the lack of varsity experience Was the problem. Individual ability was shown throughout the season by strong rebounding and heavy scoring of Michael Bailey, smooth ball handling and clutch shooting from Rodney Tole- free and tough defense and fearless play from William Carter. Record breaking shooting by Kevin Fouse, tough defense and high percentage shooting came from Bert Hendricks. Stingingjumpers and all-out excellent play from Ronald Scroggins, and reb ounding-sparking resulted in good plays from Merle Johnson.
