Hodge will retire from the Kansas City, Kansas, Public School System, September 1, 1951, after forty-one 4413 years of active service. The Sumner Alumni Association is sponsoring a community project in the estab- lishment of a scholarship fund honoring John A. Hodge, educator, civic leader, and humanitarian. The committee plans to endow the scholarship fund with a minimum of three thousand dollars lS3,000.00l through your individual contributions. A public meeting will be held in October, 1951, at which time a scroll, bearing the signatures of all contributors, will be presented to the honoree. ONE DOLLAR from you will place your name on the scroll. A Board of Trustees comprising nine 193 members will control and supervise the scholarship fund. The two permanent members of the board will be John A. Hodge and the treasurer of Sumner High School. Make your checks payable to The John A. Hodge Scholar- ship Fund, cfo R. Rostell Mansfield, Treasurer, Douglass State Bank, Kansas City, Kansas. Some have expressed the desire to make larger con- tributions. These are acceptable.
