12 THE HARBOR BEACON Willard, Camden Sargent, jr., and Miriam Gordon. The annual Speaking Contest was held, in which members of all four ships took yart. From our ship George Ober and Mir- iam Gordon were the speakers. Miriam 'von the first prize. To keep in shape a basketball team was organized on board ship The sailors on it were Elmer Willard Monte Williams George Ob r B1lly Estabrook and Camden Sargent All the sophomore sailors were on the ball team Our ship IS a large one so you see we have plenty of room for physical education. One night the captain called us all on the deck. He told us that in a week we had to dock for an examination and inspection. We had been going with the breeze and would have to hurry to make it in time.
