mands for explanations until Marle could hardly hear her own XOICQ When the ex cltement was finally subdued Marle got a chance to speak It really wasnt anything at all she laughed I just put down on paper how I felt about loslng my first story A SENIORS DREAM GERALD ROBERTSON 37 EING exhausted by my arduous exer tions of gettlng to school on a sprlng llke mornlng ln January I dropped ln to my seat for a llttle necessary rest before the tasks of the day began I was aroused by the d1ngl1ng of the bell and heard the principal say Pass to classes I glanced around and saw each student in the Senior Class was proylded with a trlcycle Wh1Ch was parked beslde his seat for transpor tation to classes A mad scramble for our trlcycles ensued and we proceeded to Hls tory class After a few accldents we all found seats and parked our yehlcles Our Prlnclpal mformed Elllott that It is for bldden to park in front of a post The rea son for thls 1s that the post must be kept unobstructed for over ambltlous students who perslst 1n cllmblng Elllott got on hls trlcycle of whlch the seat was much higher than the handle bars lwe wonder whyl rode around and parked on the oth er side of the desk Now we were ready for work WIXSOH began by askmg how many had thelr lesson prepared There was a unan lmous response 1n the affirmatlve iThe first tlme the class has answered a ques tlon thls yearl He then informed us that we might go to our seats to study the day s lesson and also study three more llnes for the next day s lesson We rode quietly to our seats but instead of studylng our His tory we had other entertainment The boys were proylded wlth the latest 6dltlOD of VVestern Storles and the girls XHFIOUQ editions of loye storles each student hay ing one copy to enjoy for the remalnder of the perlod Upon looklng around how ey er we found Clavton lny oly ed ln a book entitled The Art of Making Loye dldnt think he needed a book on this subject The next class proyed to be lnexitable Engllsh Because the students enjoy that subject so much it required fifteen min utes for us all to be seated and quleted for recltatlon After trvlng to delay as long as possible to make the hour that much shorter we found our English teach er was away for the day Flndlng nothlng else to do we all studled our Amerlcan Lit erature unt1l recess tlme fB9ll9X9 lt or not At recess we enjoyed a portion of the contents of our lunch boxes As soon as recess was over we rolled solemnly to Chemlstrv Class Then Mr Wlxson start ed shootlng questlons our way He first asked B111 what he could tell about Chlor me B111 started off by telllng that it s a noun and that he remembered hayxng read somethlng about It ln some book some tlme somewhere He next asked Ralph who dlscoyered Oxygen Ralph retaliated by saying that W3QhlHgt0H dxscoyered xt when he went to the North Pole Mr W1x son informed him that he or the author of the book had made a slight error Ralph s brllllant mlnd aga1n glowed as he related Christopher Columbus may haye dlscox ered the DFGCIOUS element as he distinct ly remembered Columbus dlscovered some thmg Our prlnclpal didn t stop to ques tion us farther QIHCQ he knew We all knew our lesson just as well as those two boys The Chemlstry Class was cut short be cause we were so hungry that It was 1m posslble for us to walt untll noontlme During the noon hour we all enjoy ed our dlnner and took a little QXGFCISG fx ery llttlel Then the bell again rang we re sumed our places but lnstead of slttlng down we pulled out the automatic exten SIOHS in order that we all might enjoy an after dinner snooze The next perlod should haye been our math period but when we were told to pass to classes only two were awake to go to class Because the class w as so small we were excused and furthermore we 17 K K4 ' Y li! e , . . , . .
