THE HARBOR BEACON THE KINGS GOLD HAT One summ r day the klng of Bathsheba bought hlmself a new Sunday go to meet mg hat grew so proud of th1s hat that he declded to wear 1+ every day all made of pure gold He finally There th1s hat Every now and then pop would go the kmgs hat and It would Jump cl ar off hrs head The cause of th1s was that everybody spoke very DOIIIC ly to h1m and It naturally muade him rather struck on hlmself and somewhat swell headed was only one thxng wrong w1th One day along came a fellow from Egypt and he sa1d Mr K1ng I have traveled all through the B1ble country and I havent found a better place than th1s of yours Behold' Pop' Off went the klngs hat' A few days later along came a mar' from Afrlca and he Sald Mr K1ng I because I heard that you were the hand somest man th1s s1de of the r1ver N1le Now that I have seen you you are even handsomer than that So' Pop' Off went the kxngs hat' Fmally the kmg became slck and weary of havmg hts hat pop off and so he a1d I wlll g1VE a reward of S100 000 cash money to anyone who can make my hat stay on my head People flocked from all over the kmg dom to Bathsheba trymg to w1n that re ward They were all scared to death not to say HIC thlngs to the klng No sooner d1d they get 1nto the court room where the dlamond throne was than they would start paying the klng compllments and ol course off went the kmgs hat Fmally one day a lady came to the l ng and Sald Mr K1ng lf youll marry me and make me the queen of Bathsheba Ill make your hat stay on your head The kmg sa1d All r1ght you do xt and Ill marrv you The lady Sald that he would have to marry her first or the charm would not work So the kmg married her From that day forth he never had any trouble keep l lg hls hat on Bv the time hxs wife was through telhng him what she thought of h1m h1s hat not only stayed on but It was two and a half SIZES too blg for h1m N1na Robertson 37 A CHANGE OF HEART The n xt day Magg1es blg s1.ster was to be marrled and Magg1e Lf you please was to be the flower g1rl' Mother had made he a beaut1ful fluffy whlte organdy s1ster had bought her a palr of whlt shoe and a sparkly bracelet and that nrght sh was gomg to bed wlth p1g talls all over her head so she would have nat rly curly han' for the b1g affalr Well I guess she would be beaut1ful' G ttlng ma1'11ed was surely the wonder ful thmg that could happen to any ore she told herself as she snuggled be tween the sheets that nlght The next mcrnlng he was stlll more conv1nced that th1s was true Slster was Hylng about the most house b11 glI1g contxnually as Maggxe ard preparlng every l1ttle detall for the oon to oe event And s1sters weddmg dress' And her shoes' and the d1amond necklace and cterythmg' Oh xts Just wonderful she exclalmed to her mother and Im gomg to get marr1ed Just as soon as I can Gee I wlsh I were older llke slster She 1 J 1 ,T 1 .
