At least one semester of honor roll is required to qualify for membership. The group collected clothes for the under-privileged children of foreign countries as their ser- vice project. The organization was formed by the Student Council in the 1950-51 season and is advised by prin- cipal Arne Strand. 1 , 1 oys and gtrfs Sfafe Various activeclubs within the community sponsored four students to attend the annual Ameri- can Legion Boys' and Girls' State held on the campus of the Central Washington College of Educa- tion at Ellensburg. Those attending from Sumner were Lorinda Kenoyer, Patty Jean Koch, Joel Calavan and Jim O'Ke1ly. The delegates took part in the ten-day sessions, learning the functions and operations of city, county and state governments. Reports were made to the 'A citizens of the community on the progress of the groups at the session. Boys' State and Girls' State delegates to Ellensburg: Left to right-Joel Calavan. Miss Emmaline Schlauch was advisor. The main activities of the year were the Girls' rnzgzfgfgnsr Club party which was held October 23rd, the style show ImSff,Q'jjl,'f, i'gant larrindu K1-noyvx featuring clothes from Mollie's Dress Shop, and the Mother and Daughter Banquet which was held May 9th, Each month a girl of the month was chosen by the cabinet, which consists of the officers ad representa- tives from each class. The representatives were: Bar- bara Hall, seniorg Donna Swezey, juniorg and Rose- mary Hunter, sophomore. This year the Girls' Club purchased a girl of the month pin which is to be passed on each month.
