The Student Council, governing body, representing the student body was led by President Tom Huff who weilded the gavel with authority. Other officers were: vice president, Tom Tebbg secretary, Arden deCarteretg and treasurer, Patty Jean Koch. Other active members include the president of Boys' and Girls' Club, a representative of the yell squad and an elected representative from each class, advised by the principal, Arne Strand. The group financially backed the football banquet, a dinner honoring the ticket-takers and sellers, and support to the music delegates to Missoula, Montana. At least one semester of honor roll is required to qualify for membership. The group collected clothes for the under-privileged children of foreign countries as their ser- vice project. The organization was formed by the Student Council in the 1950-51 season and is advised by prin- cipal Arne Strand. 1 , 1 oys and gtrfs Sfafe Various activeclubs within the community sponsored four students to attend the annual Ameri- can Legion Boys' and Girls' State held on the campus of the Central Washington College of Educa- tion at Ellensburg. Those attending from Sumner were Lorinda Kenoyer, Patty Jean Koch, Joel Calavan and Jim O'Ke1ly. The delegates took part in the ten-day sessions, learning the functions and operations of city, county and state governments.
