This year the meetings of the student council were concerned with several school problems. The sellinq of the Student Body Tickets resulted in much competition be' tween classes and a large per cent of the Student Body purchased tickets. The prob- lem ot who was to sponsor the Pep Dances and where they were to be held arose, and the decision was made to have them at the Recreational Center, sponsored by the Hi-Y clubs. Finances were discussed and many bills passed upon. The A. S. B. is in good standing financially with approximately SZZUU in the treasury and bonds with S3000 maturity value. On Ianuary 31, Clover Park had a meeting of all the schools of the league to discuss school spirit and related problems. Bill Staatz and Bali Cliaplin attended from thc- council and Muriel Wallace represented the girls' club. STUDENT COUNCIL BACK ROW: Jack Courtney, Sigmund Brudevold. GIRLS' CLUB CABINET Ann de Carteret, Ioanne Ward. Ioanne Paterson, Mary Lou Shaver. Muriel Wallace, Caroline Potter, lane Knoblauch: Min Bmmaline Schlauch. adviser. irfs I A The club began the year in the capable hands of these officers: Caroline Potter, presidentg Mary Lou Shaver, vice-president: Ann de Carteret, serrrotaryg Muriel Wallace, treasurer, and Loralee Caster, historian. Durrrri the first meeting of the year, the following representatives to the cabinet were elected: loanne VVard, senior: Mary I. Knoblauch, junior, and Ioarrne Paterson, Sophomore. Later, Franres Portmann was appointed club reporter. Leading the activities of the year was the annual girls' club party for the new sophomores, The party was enjoyed by all who attended. Each sophomore v.as assigned a senior to be her big sister, as rs done every year by the drawing of names. The big sister usually does something nice for her little sister such as taking her to lunch as the seniors did this year. Shortly after, the girls made wash-cloth dogs for the Red Cross. These were made as favors to be distributed to the service men in the hospitals. At Christrrras, what we hope will become a custom, was started this yerri' when ci large tree was put up and decorated in this study hall. Also gifts were sent to the elderly people of the irrfirmary. In the spring we had our annual hike and the traclrtionrrl Mothers' and Daughters' Banquet in May. The officers for the coming year and the friendliest girls' awards were announced at that time. The business of the year proved to be succ-essful. We had good returns on our hot dog and t-andy s iles at the home games. This project is one the girls urrdorttike every year. With part of the provetf-ds, new mirrors were bought for the girls' room, and the girls' cluli roonr was redeworated. Our programs during the year included sundry talks and inusival numbers. We had such speakers as Mrs. Shaw, a policewoman from Tacomag Ruth Ann llodsworth, student body president at C.P.S., Arlene 'Znrschmie-de, student nurse, and Mrs. Stevens, of our own faunlty. Also, reports were given by the rrierrrliers of our valrinr-t on a wonferenee that they attended in Kirkl rrrti. With the help of our advisers, Miss Errrrrirrline St-lrlauvlr and Miss Poole, the yt-.ir wris ti very lit'rrefiritrl One and fulfilled the standards of our Girls' Club. p .F N-me LATIN CLUB First Row: Bud Peterson, Richard Johnsen, Calvin Hall, Sig B1-udevold, Ted Bennett, Betty Zurschmiede, Nelle Bruce, Georgia Heerslnk.
