Band This year the Sumner High School Band is indeed one of which We can be very proud. lts contribu- tions to various programs have been numerous and greatly enjoyed by all attending. It has played for many football and basketball pep assemblies and also has turned out for all of the home football and 12' GIRLS' SEXTETTE BOW 1-Aleatha Dieatrick, Accompanist: Mary Lou Shaver, Alyce Larsen. ROW 2-Betty McCoy. Ioan Storhow, Shirley Swezey, Doris Ward. . basketball games. Other programs were ones given for P.-T. A. and graduation exercises and a very fine exhibition of music and marching given at the annual May Day Program. Each year two concerts are given: the Mid- Winter and the Spring Concerts. The winter con- cert had several overtures featuring The Choco- late Soldier, and a young tap dancer was the quest artist. However, this year the band ch ose to specialize mostly in popular and semiepopular music. Some members of the band have offered their special talents to various programs which were greatly enjoyed by all. Most outstanding of these were selections by the Trumpet Trio and the Baton Twirling Exhibitions by Gloria Ellexson on roller skates. These were put on during the half at the home basketball games. Gloria, a member oi the 1945 Senior Class, is the student band director and drum majorette. The band director is Mr. Paul Cronenberger. There are approximately sixty members in this organization, although graduation will take ten of them this year. The Sumner High School Student Body is very proud of its band and Wishes it a lot of success.
