Gkss j9I'0PAlQC After a busy day at the Rockefeller Soclal Center I returned to my apartment Picking up the May 19 1965 issue of The New York Times I read At 8 15 am William Hall stepped into hls hell copter atop his 5th Avenue apartment house in New York City two hours later he IS signing an important contract in the London office of his partner Charlie Caudlll He lunches at Armel Jacksons Dinner Club in Liverpool England where he IS served by the world famous chef Bobby Harper He then plays two rounds of golf with business HSSOCIHIC Howard Brlzen dine on the famous James and Billy Stephens golf course in Havana Cuba He is back in his apart ment in txme for a short nap before the evenlng meal Fantast1c ' I thought and then breaking the spell who should appear ln the doorway but m roommate Patsy Johnson loaded with packages an homework from the office of Donald Barry or whose Insurance Company she labors tirelessly ay after day Smiling at her I told her to sit down an have a cup of coffee then I told her to read e article I had just completed After she read it t is caused our thoughts to turn to other SCHS class mates of 1955 Patsy told me she had just seen Dot Devasher Jean Porter Jernigan and Annette Old ham going into Radio City where they are appearing on James Browns panel discussion show Accent on to Lula Bell Shlrrell Joan Hunter Joyce Poole Wlllovene Graves and Nellie Brewer who are living ln Portland ano following the honored profession of homemaklng Patsy had just received a newsy letter from her cousin Peggy Armstrong who is a nurse at Mayo Clinic Rochester Minnesota where Dr Wayne Groves IS a member of the staff ln that famous institution We have seen Peggy s signature in several important medical Journals lately We always knew she would make a success of her chosen profession Peggy stated 1n her letter that Adella and Sue Ellen Lmk had recently traveled all the way to Rochester for medical treatment Just then the telephone rang and I recognized the voice of Eunice Hodges who had recently acquired a new husband She had just arrived at La Guardia Airport in her own private plane from Texas where they recently discovered oil on their two thousand acre ranch She IS donatmg one half mllllon dollars to Neva Wilson s Observatory of Music in Cincinnati Ohio We were very glad to her her voice and in vlted her over to visit us Before gomg out for dinner we turned on the television to help relieve some of the tension of the day s work Strange to say we received more mforma tion about our classmates than we had had ln quite a while Who should appear but Announcer Kenneth Shank lm with his News ln 3D The following news flashes were given In the election of 1968 Gordon Meadors is pre dlcted to be Presidential Candidate of the United States on the Republican ticket University of Southern California has just secured new football coaches John Colltns Bill Brown and Louis Callxs From 7ur1ch Switzerland Bobble Jo Crunk has just won the International Ice Skating tournament Many outstanding personalities are there to con gratulate her on this outstanding accomplishment News in 3D exclusive from Norman Stovall NBC news correspondent in Scotland The people of Scotland are turning out by the millions for the Donald Taylor production Sunny Sue of Tennessee starring the famous Hollywood stars Joyce McDaniel Dean Storv Janice Simpson Barbara Vanatta Bobby Williams and Charles Wilkinson When this broadcast ended we smiled at each other as we put on our hats to go out to dine at the famous Rhea Stewart Steakhouse We were Joined there by three of Macey s most beautiful mod els Jackee Smart Jean Cron and Nancy Freeland Theye were radiant in their latest fashioned dmner gowns In conversation we werent amazed to dis cover that the lovely desses were designed by Birdie McCo1n Jeanette Street and Jane and Janette Lamberth After dmner Patsy and I hesitated to break up the friendly group but she had so much homework to do she insisted that we must leave As we turned to go out the door we met Carl Pike who is de signmg a new addition to the Umted Nations Build mg and his business associate Donny Wiseman We asked them over to our apartment for a visit Carl had just been to dmner with Dr Patrl ia Joan Wright English professor at Syracuse University while Donny had escorted Glenda Mayes a famous NBC television singer While we were discussing our different types of work our topic of conversation turned to some of our 1955 classmates Carl had just returned to New York from Portland where he had been visiting old friends He told us that SCH S had just secured a new superintendent Professor Jim Johnson a gradu ate of University of Kentucky Wilma Claiborne and Ieggy Harper have taken over the new Home Eco nomics Department which Carl had the pleasure of deslgnmg Archie Claiborne and Richard Hunters whiz bang basketball team had just completed tour of all the states They broke all records in the conference Bonnie Brown Patsy Hobdy and Yvonne Cherry have taken over the old hang out Shell City where all of the gang still go Mayor Wayne Perry has just appropriated a million dollars for a new swimming pool and skating rin Dot Dobbs and Barbara Vaughn had opened a Nursery School for Fountain Head and surrounding areas As we looked at the clock on the mantel we reahzed how fast Tzme flies and as badly as we regretted to return to the Present with its dull duties we reahzed that the Past held beautlful memories and the World of the Future lay open to many wonderful opportunities for
