Senior Class History On September 14, 1942, thirty-one small children entered Miss Dolly's room to be cared for and started on their way up. -Among those students were Lulabelle Briley, Joyce Bright, Roy Danforth, Larry Forrest, Radford Garrett, O. M. Goodman, Joyce Hollingsworth, Barbara Leachmon, James Merritt, Jbnice Treadway, Donald Vetor, and Garry Webster. In the fall of 1943, we were feeling more at ease when Miss Wolfe took us under her watchful eye for our second year of school. Miss Achsah Smith kept vigilence over us while we drilled on our multiplication tables and improved our grammar. That year Marilyn Greenlee and Ewell Miite |oined us. During our fourth year at Oak Grove, we were taught by Mrs. Anna Tanselle. Bill Yeagy joined our increasing class. We progressed onward now to the fifth grade, where we were taught by Miss Florence Toppan. Patty Cunningham and Mary McCune joined us as we tried for the sixth grade. Carmel Minn taught us this year and helped us to consume more knowledge. We had been losing and gaining a few students each year, so as we went into our seventh year of school, Joyce Saubert joined us as we were taught by several teachers. George Johnson was our sponsor. Now feeling very proud of ourselves, we were looking forward to our graduation from grade school. Again we had several teachers. Miss Joanne Nixon was our sponsor. We gained Mary Hall and Richard Schuyler, and, again, Lulabelle Briley-who couldn't stay away very long. All summer we anticipated coming once again to school, only now as Green Freshmen . Wfe had completed eight full years and had only four to go. Mrs. Michael was chosen to be our sponsor and we gained seven pupils coming from Boone Twp. They were Joyce Bogue, John Hueston, Donald Fbttison, Gladys Ffettigrew, Glenda Pettigrew, Carolyn Reid, and John Thurston. We went into our sophomore year with Mr. Jesse Pitts as our sponsor. Our junior year things began to happen socially as well as scholastically. We gave our first stage production, We Shook the Family Tree , knowing that we would never be a Gable or a Hepburn. All the same, we had fun. Selling magazines was our second big project. We did very well. A few of us won certificates and trophies. This year we gained Earl Newton. Our senior year was even more exciting than we expected. We gave another play, If Mother Only Knew , sold Christmas cards, and sold concessions at the ball games. We looked forward with eagerness to our Senior trip and our Prom, given to us by the Juniors. We are proud of our boys who participated in sports. We are also proud of our teachers who have helped us through our twelve years of school. Our sponsor, M. Gossett, has made our last two years much easier with his excellent guidance. We are at the climax of our senior year and feel proud getting reody to receive our diplomas and go out into the world as grown men and women. The Senior Class of 1954 wishes to express their greatest appreciation to the faculty members and the citizens of this community for helping and sacrificing some of their life so that we were able to achieve our education. 11 Senior Class of 1954
