In September, the year of nineteen hundred and forty-one, thirty-five children passed through the doors of Summitville Public School for the first time. Miss Dolly greeted us with her friendly smile and all our fear vanished. Among the thirty-five students were Rosemary Coty, Shirley Elsworth, Ansel Hendrick, Rosella Hollingsworth, Carolyn Hoppes, Tommy Kilgore, Jack Owens Bill Small, Shirley Waller, and Donna Webster. The following year Miss Wolf took us under her wing. In the second grade Robert McCord joined us. Our third year we were greeted by Miss Achsah. That year Bob Evans came. We entered into our fourth year of hard work under the care of Mrs. Tansel. Added to our class were Jerry Pierce and Francis Reiley. Miss Tappan, accepted the job of guiding us through our fifth year at good old S. H. S. We gained one new Dupil that year, Rita Castor. The Sixth year, Mrs. Mann had the job q| leading us through the school year. Entering our clas that year were JJonald Golden and Henley Humphrey. Mr. Gossett took over the seventh grade and taught us the meaning of studying. That year we lose one and gained Danny Velasquez. That year we chose our first class officers with Rith Castor as president and Mr. Johnson as’sponsor. Some of the boys played on the “Spooks team which started their interest in athletics with a record of ten won and seven lost. We once entered S. H. S. with great-ass«rance of graduating from junior high. Miss Stutz, our sponsor, and Shirley Waller, our president, helped to lead us through our successful and enjoyable eighth year. We had a great “Spooks team this year losing only two out of eighteen. From our twenty- eight beginners we lost seven but gained one, Lowell Stevens. Twenty-two students proudly received their diplomas. Once again on a sunny September day in 1949, we entered the doors of Summitville High School, this time as “Green Freshmen.” This year Marvin Jackson, Alan Retherford, Avery Schwinn, and Mildrea Thurston joined ranks with us from Boone Township, and also Charlotte Hall. We had a good Freshman basketball learn. We elected Danny Velasquez president with Mrs. Michael sponsor. We started our money project by charging dues this year. Our Sophomore year we chose Mrs. Waymire sponsor and Danny Velasquez president. This year we again charged class dues and had scrap drives and sold “Goblin” emblems. Jim Boguff entered our class. Twoeof our boys played varsity basketball. Twenty-seven students.slarted the Junior year by again electing Danny Velasquez president and Mrs Waymire sponsor. During the year the class was increased by Marilyn ZehnJng and George Crull but we lost Danny Velasquez Donald Golden, our Vice President, became president of the class. On October 21, 1951 we gave our Binior play “Resf Assured. The play was a success and so was our magazine sales. The last of the year we gave a dance in honor of the Seniors. We had a g»od basketball team this year. We won ten our of twenty and the Invitational Totrrney. Finding ourselves confronted with our last year at S H S . we have struggled hard to end our twelve years with succeS'8. We have been selling at the concession stand every day at noon and at all home basketball games. We also sold Christmas Cards and gave our Senior Play October 21 1952, “Kicked Out of College. With us still are nine students who have «tended all twelve years were at S. H. S. We lost one student this year and one entered our class. Shirley Webster. We are proud of our boys who have participated in all the athletics through high school. Now we are looking forward to that which will climax our many happy years together as one group, the Junior and Senior Dance, our trip to Washington and New York, and our Diplomas.
