Merrzories green forever more. . As the years go by and each of us now at Summit graduates, our school days will be but an indistinct memory of happy times and good friends. This 1950 FLAlNIE is our diary, made to bring back this particular year in memory as clearly as if it were just a few days ago. It brings to mind the fun we've had, the work we've done, the clubs and activities we've been in, and the dances we've attended. It reminds us of all our friends and our laughing times together. It reminds us also of our student government offices and the pride that went with them or the hard work we did on a committee, the plays we gave, the many hours we spent struggling with our homework, and the glee club concert we presented with the St. Paul Academy boys. In the combined fresh- man-sophomore game both teams were deh- nitely better defensively than offensively. Our goalie was exceptionally alert and sueeeeded in warding off many attacks of the opposition. The only scoring done in this game was dur- ing the hrst hall. In the junior game the ball was kept near the fifty yard line for most of the l'irst half. Summit's forward line held posi- tions and passed accurately, while the back' field kept St. NIary's from making any goals. The senior game, though full of spirit. was rather one-sided because Sl. NGRTHROP On November 8, Northrop came to Summit for our annual fall field hockey competition. The combined freshman-sophomore team, al- though playing well, was not able to break through Northrop's strong defense. The ball was kept on Summit's territory for most of the first half, and it was then that Northrop,s for- ward line made its only goal. In the next game Summit's junior team again succeeded in beat- ing its opponent. The forward line had little trouble driving by Northrop's weak defense, and a result the ball was kept mostly on Northrop's half of the field. December 7, 1919, found the fresh- men playing the sophomores in a spirited game, vying for the school championship. The sopho- mores could not overcome their opponents who held the lead throughout the entire game. Skill- ful spiking and serving plus determination gave the freshmen most of their points. The next game was between the juniors and seniors. The latter served well but could not match the team- work and spiking of the juniors, who won. The game was unusualg for, although there were many long volleys with some even outside the court, the atmosphere was tense and quiet. Hav- ing reached the semi-finals. the freshmen and juniors met in a heated battle. The freshmen followed last year's trend and won, claiming the title of champs. SALLY XIOORII. SANDRA Quixx PRQJECTIO CLUB One of the most active clubs in Summit is the Projection Club. It was organized several years ago for the purpose of training girls who had mechanical interests to operate the various machines which the school owns. Any girl from the seventh through twelfth grades is eligible for membership, and the club now has a large enrollment. These girls have been taught to run the movie projector, the delineascope, the slide machines, and the new tape recorderg but, before they are allowed to operate a machine alone, they are carefully instructed and checked by Miss Stephens, the faculty adviser, or other experienced members. The teachers now frequently make use of visual education. They have found the club especially helpful when they wish to use a machine in class, for it saves them much time and extra work. The girls have charge of all the movies and pictures which are shown at school, and last year about one hundred movies and many slides were shown. The group bears a great deal of responsibility and has proved itself very useful to the school. The Projection Club members certainly deserve much credit for the valuable services they render.
