It finds seven hopeful and excited Seniors leaving S.C.H.S. and entering the world before us. We are reminded of years before. It seems only a short time that eight timid Freshmen were trying to suffer through Freshman initiation. Those entering into high school were: Alan Rice, Kathleen Skinner, Bill Bersonnet, Roy Sisk, Donna Shively, Norma Sanns, Mike Woods and Loren Thompson. We lost Mike in October, as he moved to Denver. The beginning of our Sophomore year saw three new members enrolled in our class. They were: Bob Van Dyke, Ida Carr and Mike Woods. Kathleen Skinner moved to Wyoming, Roy Sisk moved to Arizona. Donna Shively quit to marry Johnny Sullivan, Norma Sanns left to work. We helped produce Homer the Brave, the play for our Speech Festival. We also planned the school picnic at the end of the year. Our class enrollment got quite a change at the beginning of our Junior year. Bill Bersonnet was working and did not start. Two weeks later our class was saddened when Bill met sudden death in a mining accident. We gained two new members, Larry Brown and Letha Gilmore, but we lost Larry at the end of the first semester, as he moved to Arvada. Our h biggest money-making project was the Junior-Senior Play, Quiet Week-end. In April we decorated for the Prom and planned the Junior -Senior Banquet. Our last year--only three of the original eight who started with us are still here. With Ida Carr, Bob Van Dyke and Jimmy Owens, our class now numbers six. We planned and pre- sented the Senior Carnival for our important money-making project during the year. Alan Rice has been on the first string Basketball team for four years. All the other boys have participated, and have helped the team a lot. We are looking forward to the Prom, Baccalaureate, the Junior-Senior Play, Banquet and Graduation. The se events will mean more to us this year than before, because they are our last. Even though we are all anxious to strike out into a new life, we will always remember 'our years at S. C.H.S. as happy ones. EAGLE LAKE GAS C'O. FRANK F. BROWN HORNS BAR QUALITY LIQUORS Senior Class Will 1955 I, Robert Van Dyke, will all the cows on the highway to anyone who can hit them. I, Mike Woods, will my shaggy hair to anyone who wants it. I, Jimmy Owens, will my eyes to anyone who can realize that they are real eyes. I, Alan'Rice, will my flat-top to Hud Prestrud. He needs it. I, Loren Thompson, will my place in the snowbank to Jim Christensen and his jeep. I, Ida Carr, will all my detentions to Janice Forsberg, even though she doesn't need any more. Also, I will my chair in the office to all the underclassmen. VIENNA LAUNDRY 8: CLEANERS DILLON MARKET Class Prophecy The year is 1965 and .. .... Loren Thompson, a well -known architect, is now drawing plans for the new S.C.H.S. building. Bob Van Dyke, the famous te st pilot, is now halfway to the moon and can't get back to earth. Jimmy Owens is now living the life of Snuffy Smith on his ranch on the Blue River, Mike Woods, an operator of a driving school in the metropolis of Denver has found his fortune. He also runs a wrecker service. Alan Rice has recently taken over the job of coach at S.C.H,S. He had to take over, as Mr. Slovak has developed ulcers recently. Ida Carr is now the Owner of the Dillon Mercantile, the one and only black market in Summit County. GOLDEN BURRO CAFE J, C, PENNEY CQ. They are as follows: President ------ -- Pat Mumford Vice-President -- -- Janice Forsberg Secretary ------ -- Carole Chambers Treasurer ----- -- Darlene Slavin .Mr. DuBridge was chosen as our class sponsor. We are proud of several of our Juniorhboys for being on the basketball team, and one of our Junior girls was elected cheerleader. Our class is looking forward to the Junior-Senior Banquet and the Prom. Since the annual goes to press before the Junior-Senior play, we can't report on itg but we have high hopes of its being a success. Our carnival queen candidate was Janice Forsberg. Our money-making project was selling candy. The officers elected at the beginning of the year are as follows: President ------- -- Sonja Ashlock Vice -President ------- Joan Williams Secretary-Treasurer-- Ronnie Alexander Student Council Representative -- -- Donna Goss Sonja was later replaced by Joang and Ronnie was replaced by Nellie Warren. Donna Goss became our most charming candidate for the Senior Carnival. We regret to say that she lost. The Sophomores can commend themselves on their active membership in all clubs and projects. ' During the year we lost three members of the class: Sonja Ashlock, David Hollenbeck and Daryl Rimbey. But we were glad to gain two new members: Janet Sheesley and Bob Countway. Another picnic has been tentatively scheduled for the end of the school term. After-school frolics included sledding and tobogganing on the ball park hill. Several times chili con carne was served to warm the athletes. The seventh and eighth graders plan to attend the Colorado Young Citizens League Conven- tion to be held in Denver early in the spring. Junior High School sports have helped round out a full year of activity. The softball and basketball teams have worked very hard and should be commended on their fine work. Money-making plans have worked out very well this yearg and the class has sufficient funds for their annual trip to the C.Y.C,L. convention in Denver. Junior High room mothers--Mrs. Walter Enyeart, Mrs. William Bersonnet and Mrs. A. W Lowery--have been extremely helpful in planning parties and picnics. The Glee Club opened the program introducing new Christmas anthems and carols. The girls appeared in formal dresses with a color-wheel' playing rainbow hues on their skirts. The main portion of the program was a spiritual play and pageant, 'Why the Chimes Rang. Its theme was that love and self-sacrifice are the greatest gifts. The Intermediate and Junior High rooms contributed their efforts in this manner. The primary children sang traditional carols, which were illustrated by costumed per- sonifications of the songs. The program ended in a candlelight recessional with the Glee Club and the play characters singing. To add a festive note to the evening, Santa Claus appeared with a sled of treats for the youngest gue sts. The high school set held a dance in the gym afterwards. Speech and Drama Festival The Speech and Drama Festival was held in Walden on Friday, December 3. iOur play, Lord Dunsany's A Night At an Inn, received an excellent rating. The following students took part in the play: Larry Madron, Mike Madron, Charles Melvin, Bob Nelson, Martin Baker, Lois Huntington, Pat Vinson and Janet Wells. Larry Madron made a very terrifying Idol, and all members of the cast played their parts well. Pat Mumford, Ali-ce Harris, Nellie Warren and Margaret Enyeart delivered serious dra- matic selectionsg and Carole Chambers and Joan Williams delivered humorous selections. Carole received an excellent rating, and the others received good ratings. No other school averaged any higher than we in these Speech selections. Summit can well be proud of its ac- complishments in this Festival. Senior Carnival January ZZ, 1955, at 7:00 p.m. found this school all ready for the Senior Snow Carnival. There was a wide variety of booths, complete from the baseball throw to rope-the-goat. The Seniors worked very hard to make this money-making project a success. About nine o'clock we closed all the booths in the upstairs gym and went down to the lower gym to play bingo. There were many nice prizes. During an intermission, Ida Carr was crowned Queen. Everyone attending had a wonderful time. This carnival was a big success, and it is our hope that everyone will support the Seniors of '56 as well as they did us. 35 A1TlH1lLE1Tuc5 x -,Nl . L s..
