superintendent-mr. hale congratulations to the staff and their advisor! the fine quality of this year's bears' log is the result of many hours of planning and hard work and reflects the tradition for fine yearbooks at Summerville high school. dining the 1970-71 school year, we have seen an increase in our enrollment to bring it up to 376 students, when we moved to the new Summerville campus our enrollment figure was 300. we are looking ahead to increase our physical plant to meet out educational responsibil- ities to the students of the Summerville high school district. this past year has brought enrichment programs in the areas of social studies, english and our individual studies program, these changes were made possible through the efforts of members of our social studies, eng- lish departments and our team of teachers who comprise the individual studies team. i would be remiss not to commend the 1970-71 student body officers and student council members for a year of progress, and our varsity bas- ketball team and coach leonard, for a league championship. through the generosity of past graduating classes and their financial gifts, it has been possible for our student council to install a trophy case in the cafeteria and a marquee at the entrance to our campus, each member of the class of 1971 has my personal wish for success in what- ever he or she may plan after graduating and in the future years ahead. c. r. hale, superintendent 100
