“
We proudly dedicate the '62 PINECREST to our coach, Mr. Hobby. Besides leading this year's basketball team to top place in the league. Coach Hobby has encouraged and helped boys every one of the four years he's been here, and will continue to do so in the future. His teams have built a reputation of clean- liness and fair play wherever they've gone, and thanks to Coach, we re proud to say of them, “They're from Tuolumne! 2 Well, class of 62, it's graduation time at last! As we leave SUHS we will look back at a year filled with fond memories. And these memories of just yesterday are preserved here for you in this Pinecrest, so that you may see them just as clearly tomorrow and in the coming years, as we brave the sea of life. 4 Qua Vimt. . . Our theme this year is centered around a young caveman named George. George, in our opinion, shows many of the desirable qualities that have been passed down to present day man by him and his contemporaries. He's a realist who finds many things in life to be cheerful about. He has courage and manages to be modest about it, he has a good brain and a sense of humor. His constant companion, a club, is used only for hunting purposes (women?)—his smile is known and welcomed wherever he goes. George serves as an example for each of us at Tuolumne . . . 6 AdmuuMioii 8 A. C. Eckstein 'howi ojj Merle Dolling . mafxd'i %tua jt Your school is the practice field for the real game of life. As an adult you will play the game of life in the manner in which you have practiced. Every individual has his responsibility to God and man to become a good citizen. This can only be accomplished by living the golden rule and maintaining genuine interest and intelligent participation in civic affairs. Each student has the responsibility to prepare himself properly for his future citizen's role. 9 BARRY B. BEACH, Principal MR. RICHARD MILLER MRS. GWENN BAYER Vice Principal Home Ec.—General Math. No other school, its students and teachers, could have received a foreign student with more warmth and friendliness. I am so proud to count myself as part of Summerville, the school with the best spirit. This wonderful school spirit is one of the most valuable things you kids have. Carry it on— never let it die—just make it grow with the school! 56 It was with apprehension that I recognized my responsibility—and challenge —as your first American Field Service student. I hope this AFS experience has not been a frustration to you. To me, it has given more understanding of a peoples' peculiarities, customs, way of thinking. By understanding, I have learned to respect their way of thinking. Soon—I go back to my great little country of Finland which I could not be prouder of. I will take with me this book: each page of it will be a lasting memory of a friend, a place, or an event. Besides this book. I'll take home each nice thing you showed, said, or gave to me. Thank you. Nakemiin, t risrm. Left to Right: Laura Cullers, Sophomore; Nadine Bostrom, Freshman; Mickey Smith, Homecoming Queen; Elva Benton, Junior; Honna-Maija Latva-Kiskola, Senior. Kemali Saybasili was our guest during the week of February 5, when we exchanged foreign exchange students with other schools. While he was here, Kem was kept busy answering questions about himself, his native country, Turkey, and Gilroy, where he is staying this year. We remember him as being cheerful, quiet and very well informed. 62 SHi; Mickey Smith and Willie Crawmer Best Looking Sum Jmvtei Annette Magno and Sonny Hendricks Most Talented Sharon Tesreau and Dave Riley Flirtatious Diane James and Dan Erlenbusch Best Personality 69 Tuolumne, California Cleo’s Beauty Salon VI’S SIERRA SUNDRIES Film Developing Hallmark Cards Gifts English Bone China Magazines Toiletries PROFESSIONAL CARE FOR WOMEN WHO CARE Cleo Porter, Manager Virginia Egger, Fagnani Heuton Memorial Chapel P.O.
