The school curriculum is coordinated by those with the interest of the individual student at heart. One phase alone-studies, activities, athletics-does not create the overall impression of high school. The total of these equals a well-rounded school. It is my wish for each of you a high school career that is happy and meaningful. Do your best in every thing you do, not because every task you undertake is worth it, but because you are. fffwwi, PRINCIPAL: Major V. A PARK WITHOUT TREES? A park without trees is almost as farfetched os a school without students. Youth ond trees ore parts of ct much lorger picture than schools ond parks: significont contribu- tions in the world of tomorrow. We salute the Summerville High School Class of 1966. They will join high school graduates ocross the notion as future leoders. Young people ore our most valuable notural resources. We believe trees are second in im- portance. As hard os it is to imagine a pork without trees, if is equally difficult to imagine on existence without poper. Good forest management is essential to meet the ever- increasing demands for wood. Foresters and other highly skilled technicians combine reseorch, genetics, culture and protection to obtain moximum yields. Westvaco not only provides quolity products to help maintain America's high standard of living but generates iobs for thousands of people to support a strong nationol economy. We welcome you as partners in tomorrow's leadership for a better, stronger world. It seems that the halls of SHS will miss our senior class, but there is always another group to take its place and another annual staff to work as hard as my staff. I would like to recognize Robin Hoffmire for the art work he contributed and to thank our photographer Mr. E. O. Tinsley, whose extra patience and concern had a. lot to do with our yearls success. It would be quite im ossible to record each event, but the ones that are, I hope, will, ignite in each person's memory some of the pure and carefree emotions of our high school years.
