CLASS HISTORY In September, 1952, fourteen boys and thirteen girls started their High School life. Ken Burgin joined us this year. Our first order of business was to elect class officers. Alan Brown was elected president with Carol Wilson vice president. Barbara Young kept the class records and also had charge of the money. Joyce Ulmer was Student Council representative. We participated in a 500 Christmas exchange. Dorsey Leon- hardt and Maxine Hancock were May Day representatives. As Sophomores, we elected Alan Brown as president and Jim Martin as vice president. Geneva Neff was elected secretary-treasurer. Barbara Young was the Student Council re- presentive. Mrs. Joan Lowrie was the class advisor. Our first activity was initiating the freshmen. The following spring, the class went hiking on a biology field trip and had a weiner roast at Carol Wilson's home following the hike. Jim Martin and Jeanie Long re- presented the class as May Day attendants. Our last item of business as Sophomores was to arrange plans for the Junior Festival. It was held the following summer and netted a profit of S36-5. We started our Junior year with twelve boys and twelve girls. The officers for the year were Richard Miller president, and Barbara Young assisting him. Carol Wilson recorded the minutes, and Ronald Hoover handled the money. Jim Martin was Student Council re- presentative. On October 29, three one-act plays were given. The plays were entitled Cloud-Burst , Murder On the High Seas , and Mama's Getting Married . All of the members of the class were in the plays. We received our class rings on November 10. Carol Wilson, Joyce Ulmer, and Barbara Young became members of the National Honor Society. On May 6, the Junior-Senior banquet was held. The theme was Springtime in Paris . The student body elected Maxine Hancock as the May Day Queen. Our class attendants were Joyce Ulmer, and Ken Burgin. At the beginning of our Senior year, we gained one new member, thus bringing the class enrollment to a total of 20. Jim Martin headed us as president, with Alex Miller serving as vice president. Barbara Young took notes, and Joyce Ulmer was elected class treasurer. Carol Wilson represented the class in the Student Council. Mrs. Marilyn Gat- chell was the class advisor. November 9, the class journeyed to Tiffin to have their pic- tures taken. During the month of December, the class selected their invitations, name cards, and platinum caps and gowns. During the latter part of March, the class gained an- other new member, Mary Ann Moore, The class presented ,the play, The Boarding House Reach , April 27 under the direction of Mrs. Marilyn Gatchell. Sixteen members of the class were in the cast. The Junior Class entertained us at the annual Junior-Senior Ban- quet, May 4. Having the honor of again making the National Honor Society was Joyce Ulmer, Carol Wilson, and Barbara Young. New members receiving the honor was Ronald Hoover, Jeanie Long, Maxine Miller, and Dorothy Ream. Be the Best of Whatever You Are was chosen as the class motto. Our class flower was the blue carnation. Platinum and blue were chosen as the class colors. Baccalaurette Services were held May 20. Com- mencement Exercises were conducted the following evening, May 21. So ended the happiest four years of our lives, and the class of 56 began their careers of life.

Alex Miller, bequeath my phrase Good Morning to any friendly student, Ted Miller, will my ability to play basketball to Marvin Kocker. Mary Ann Moore, bequeath my ability to remain quiet in study hall to Vic Reffey, Melvin Sturtz and Roger Kalb. I I I I I I I. I. Wayne Pfleiderer, will my ability of getting A's in agriculture to Glen l-loffis. Dorothy Ream, will my love of American History to anyone of similar interest. Dexter Rossman, leave my ability to serve a volleyball to Jimmy Ash. Donald Striker, will my ability to be a good manager to Glenn Cheeseman. Joyce Ulmer, bequeath my ability to get along with others to all who find this hard to do. Juanita Vaughn, will my tiny feet to Arch Frank. Carol Wilson, leave my job in the office to some underclassman. Barbara Young, bequeath my school newspaper headaches to next year's editor, Ruth Perdue. We do hereby declare this will and testament closed, signed, and sealed on this ninth day of April, in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-six.
