Twice the Tors came from behind to knot the score on the passing arm of Nolan Viator and the receiving of Ray Keever. Led by left guard Ralph Sonnier, the pass protection was the most outstanding feature of our offense. 82 Here come the Tors DOUG L.-XNIER, Tackle Captain BYRD The Tors dropped their second game of the season to a strong Byrd High team that was later to become Bi-district champion of I and ll AAA districts. Relying once again on defense the Tors held the Jackets to one touchdown. Led by Paul Hynes and Morris Van the hackfield was to he congratulated for stopping the Byrd hacks from going all the way on numerous occasions. We were one of the few teams in the state to hold Byrd to such a close score. ln the third quarter the offense of the Tors moved the hall to the three-yard line but inability to sustain the drive cost us a touchdown that would have tied the game. NOLAN VIATOR, Quarterback RAY KEEVER, End All-District, First Team Nolan circles Lake Charles End PAUL HYNES, Halfback All-District, First Team JOHN FAULK, Fullhack JENNINGS The Sulphur Tors, in their opening district game, smashed the Jennings Bulldogs 40-0. The Tors capitalized on many Jennings mistakes in playing first class ball. Doug Lanier provided the thriller in the game by inter- cepting a Jennings lateral and racing 80 yards for the fourth Sulphur touchdown. Paul Hynes opened the scoring late in the first quarter by bouncing over from the two-yard line. Then in the second quarter, the Tors scored four times making the half time score 33-O. ln that wild second quarter Nolan Viator passed 17 yards for one score to Fred Kressman, and scored himself on a 43-yard run. Just before the half John LaSalle intercepted a Jennings pass and went 70 yards for another score. The final touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 19-yard pass from Richard Vice to Robert Beglis. ORAN LEE LEWIS, End TONY PALERNIO. Fullhack All-District, Third Team l'm earning a much needed jacket. GLEN COUCH. Tackle CHARLES BOURGEOIS, Center ROBERT BAKER, Guard ORANGE We played Orange, Texas, this year for the first time in the school's history. The outcome of the game indicated that this would be a great game year in and year out. Both teams showed lack of offense but well balanced defensive units. The Tors got their touchdown in the third quarter when Fred Kressman scored from four yards out. Douglas Lanier kicked what proved to be the winning point as the Tors went on to win 7 to 6. Pardon my elbow. Kressman uses blocks of LaSalle and Palermo in Orange game. ARKY LEVENS, Tackle ROBERT BEGLIS, End 85 RAYMOND NELSON, Quarterback NEW IBERIA For the third straight week the Golden Tors came out on top as they swatted the New Iberia Yellow Jackets 23-0. Tony Palermo scored our first touchdown from the four-yard line climaxing a drive of 95' yards.
