Mrs. Webb is a registered nurse of Border- McGregor Hospital in Mangum, Oklahoma. As a regis- tered nurse, Mrs. Webb has been in the Sulphur School district for 21 years. Also along with being a full time nurse for the school district, she is turant officer too. We are very proud of another fact also concerning Mrs. Webb. She is one of the 24 regular employed school nurses in the state. In i -1. ., V W , I 1 Q y X I -1 11- .f' n, '- ' , 5 A V .- -. -,K .. I' . After this hair-rising experience we continued on to the majestic amphitheatre where we saw centered in the amber spotlight Virginia Smith in one of her many dramatic interpretations, while Lucy Nemecek, Sherrill Wlilliams and Judith Leonnard who are now known throughout the world as the famous Cattle Callers, provided the musical back- ground. This outstanding trio, has many records on the S-A-P label which have far surpassed the five million mark. Our attention at this time was diverted into a more academic atmos- phere, the Art Gallery. As we glanced to our right we were held spell- bound by a portrait of Evelyn McMurty. The high-lights of her golden hair had been exquisitely brought out by Mademoiselle Cecilia Ziemier. As we turned, our curiosity was aroused by a closed door marked private. Further investigation exposed Monsieur Donnie Coats at work on one of his priceless modern paintings. Suddenly we were startled by the twang of Danny Flower's arrows mingled by screams of his live targets, Bertha Sanders and XVanda Mann. Before we could investigate further we were nearly swept out of the halls by Dennie Spears and Ray Richards, sanitary engineers. Finally reaching the top floor we looked into the science department and viewed Hal Ingram and jackie Donaho constructing synthetic bugs. On the roof next to the penthouse we saw the immense new rocket being readied for outer-space activities. As space suits and helmets were being issued, Eddie Langston recorded the last will and testament of the space pioneers. Suddenly the chimes rang and all the faculty and employees rushed out, hopped in the rocket ship and blasted oft' to their long awaited senior trip, XVritten and Compiled by, Virginia Smith Linda Mountford johnny Spradling Suddenly the exotic rhythm of drums, played by Dale Moss, lured us into Fuzzae's , the former Eugene Fuzz Kennedy, fabulous In-Between Class Relaxation Lounge. Leaning against the glass brick bar was seen Bob Lancaster, Glenn Lewis, Monroe Lee and Tommy Frost as Iva Lea Birch and Lou Ann Pierce served pink bubbling glasses of,--of,--off before them. The atmosphere of the room enticed us so much it was hard for us to continue on into the economic and social relations classes. In the first department we saw Kay Williams and LaRue Pittman, now husband and wife, instructing a three days' course proving that it isn-.t cheaper by the dozen, as their brood of thirteen swung on the scarlet velveteen draperies. Also in that department was seen Nina Stephens and Fay Cox demonstrating the push-button home, and were their fingers tired! Another class was How To Hold Your Manf', which was in- structed by Zelda Aubrey, Fredia Brewer, and Charlene Howe. ' As we left these departments, we were blinded by the flash from Floyd Holbrook's photocell camera which was photographing the 1986 Academy Award winners, Albert Chaffin and Mollie Moreland Starring in the musical comedy Women are Like Taxi Cabs which is a sequel to Men are Like Street Cars. Director of the year's major screen production, was Tom Nobles and producer Eddie Moore, with his favorite line-- 'Well, well what have we done . Proceeding through the entertainment division, we were startled by thundering hoofs of Wayne Lowrance's All Star Rodeo. Riding with Mr. Lowraniifwas seen lli8'QBQ3D,,DliDi Jewell. Whilegwe-watched, we saw jenfyi Wade and Bobby Dark, -the rodeo clowns, make an unsuccesful attempt' to divert a maddened Brahma bull from the it had just thrown, Gene Bain. I ' SENIOR CLASS OFl956 CLASS PROPI-IECY The Senior Class of '56 with the aid of the Kablalzopinameter, has taken a peek into the future thirty years from todav. The first thing we saw was the terrible tornado of 1986, in which the Original Sulphur High School building along with ALL teachers and books, was lifted forcibly from its foundation and hurled high into the sky and was last seen over Siberia where it was hoped it fell to the earth near the salt mines. After three days of rejoicing, by all the scholars who attended, joe's Place was confiscated by the school board consisting of Robert Lacy, president, Bob Stovall, vice-president, Herman Swanson, secretary, Bob Wfoodell and Charles Cotter, members. The building, in the center of the metropolis of Sulphur, covers sixty acres and is twenty stories high, housing twenty-seven thousand scholars, and forty head of cattle for james Lancaster's agriculture class. As we stepped inside the door, an escalator carried us down the hall. To our right was seen principal Bill XVilliam's office where he was trying out his new AUTOMATIC paddler on Darold Magruder. Yes, friends, he never got out. To our left was the fabulous Gold Room where Superintendent johnny Spradling was sprawled on a mink chaise longue, while his ever faithful office girl, Linda Mountford, polished his chrome dome with glass wax, as the second floor show of the day was being presented by Madame Ronda Fifi jaynes and her bubble. After reaching the end of the hall we stepped into elevator number 1956 operated by jack Kirby, which took us up to the fifth floor. There we stopped off to watch Edmond Biby's Ice Capades of 1986 featuring Anna Howard, Dorothy Baker, and Lou Ann Bonham. At our next stop we heard Frances Hill and Lois Bates barking order to the girls' gym class over the microphones from their contour chairs. After his performance in the Senior play of 1956, Don Nobles en- tered the professional world as a lawyer, with his private secretary, no not a dumb, blue-eyed, blonde, but Norma Chaffin. The fifth grade at Wasliington found Tom Noble from Cameron. Tom Frost came back to Cameron from XVashington and Sherrill Wil- liams came from Arizona. In our last year at grade school Cameron was joined by Albert Chaffirl from Xlilishington, Lucy Nemecek came from Memphis, Tennessee. We also found Zelda Aubrey and Fredia Brewer from Nebo. Wfanda Mann tame back to Xlilashington from Big Canyon, and Zelda later joined us from Cameron. Seems as Glenn Lewis was quite the guy this year. At long last we think we are big kids. Wie can now begin our climb to higher learning. This is our first year in junior High, we acquired Dennie Spears from Davis, Herman Swanson from Edmond, and Virginia Smith came from Arizona. Cecilia Ziemer also joined us from Kansas. XVe lost Hal Ingram to Ada this year. In the eighth grade we got Dorothy Baker from Amber, Bill Williams from joy, Donald Coats from Iona, and Bob Wfoodell from Clarita. Our last year in junior High, we found jerry Wfade from Byng, Monroe Lee from Chigley, Larue Pittman from Troy, Eddy Moore from Oklahoma City, and Hal Ingram back from Ada. Our first year in Senior High gained Anne Howard from Mill Creek. Do you remember how close the Seniors and Sophomores were that year? Now that we are juniors we sure gave the Seniors a rough time. In this trying year we gained Evelyn McMurtry from XVaurika, and Danny Flowers from Ada. By the way this year we won the F. F. A. Queen, Iva Lee Birch. XVe are now known as the dignified SENIORS. This year we were joined by Jacqueline Donahue from South Carolina, Gene Bain from Texas, Bertha Saunders from Xlifewoka. Eddie Langston also joined us from Oklahoma City. In our Senior year Chaflene Howe was elected F. F. A. Sweetheart and Lucy Nemecek was the S Club Sweetheart. The cheerleaders were all Seniors. Four of our Senior boys made the All District on the football team. We were very grateful to have a Senior play, The Night of january Sixteenth , this year. Our graduating SENIOR class has been very active in the various organizations in school: XY7e have 11 football players, 7 basketball players, -i track boys, 7 baseball boys, 13 F. F. A. boys, 5 4-H boys. 1 4'H girl, 19 F. H. A. girls, 1-1 N. H. S. students, 15 O. H. S. students, 4 band members, 13 Girls' Glee Club, 19 Mixed Chorus, 1 Air Scout, 13 Pep Club Girls, 7 N. F. L. students, 19 Thespian students, 7 Presidents Club, 9 Lettermans Club, 5 Key Club members. I Vile, the SENIORS of 1956, are proud to have as our sponsors this year, Mr. Buford Merritt and Mr. J. B. Best. Written and compiled by Wfanda Mann Judith Leonard 5... 0 : 'Skit' Q CL SS .e HISTORY lf the future is to be determined by the pattern of the historical progress, then we proudly present this history of the graduating SENIOR Class of 1956. lt is only in retrospect that an individual or a group can go back in reverie and take a true measure of themselx es and their worth. This history is accurately and respectively submitted. Back in September 19411, this group appeared at the schools to begin their education. At' Wfashington, Mrs. Haste and Mrs. King began the battle with Iva Lee Birch, Lois Bates, Bob Lancaster, Lou Ann Gray Bonham, Robert Lacy, Dale Moss, Fay Cox, Bill XVilliams, Hal Ingram, Kaye XVilliams, judith Leonard, johnny Spradling, XVanda Mann, Floyd Holbrook, Eddy Moore, james Lancaster, and Albert Chaffin. Do you remember that year that Fay Cox was the only girl from Mrs. Kings room to be invited to Hal Ingram's birthday party? Over at Cameron there was Charlene Howe, Ray Richard, Norma Chaffin, Bob Stovall, Ronda jaynes, Don Nobles, llugene Kennedy, Linda Mountford, Nina Stephens, Tommy Frost, and Bob Dark. Remem- ber that Ronda jaynes started her career as a cheese cake when she wore peddle pushers that were too short and was sent home to put on some clothes. The second year at Washington gained Edmond Biby from Dougherty, Darold Magruder from Pauls Valley, Glenn Lewis from Mill Creek. Norma Chaffin and Ronda jaynes joined us later that year from Cameron. We lost Wfanda Mann to Iona, Eddy Moore to Oklahoma City, and Robert Lacy to Missouri. Cameron was joined by Wfayne Lowrance from Oklahoma City, Mollie Moreland from Ada, Charles Cotter from Hous- ton, Virginia Smith from California, Lou Ann Pierce from Hickory, Zelda Aubrey from Drake, and Diana jewell from Tennessee. Seems like Cameron was fortunate to get most of the new pupils this year. At the end of the setond grade Virginia Smith went to Konowa and Bill XVilliams went to Davis. Linda Mountford started out at an early age being called to the office for doing things she shouldnt do, such as, throwing rocks at poor little girls. In the third grade Norma Chaffin and Ronda jaynes decided to swap schools again, so they went to Cameron. Dale Moss also came to Cameron from XVashington. Francis Hill came from Sherman, Texas, and Tom Noble came from Dougherty. Cameron lost Francis later that year to XVashington and Tommy Frost also went to Xvashington. Cameron lost Zelda Aubrey to Nebo. All that year Francis went around school singing, Home on the Range . XVonder how Glenn Lewis, Darold Magruder, and a few other guys ever got through the third grade, seems as they just lay on the floor at school and drew pictures.
