PAST PRE SIDENTS lass History We entered the portals of Sullivan Highland High on September 12, 1955 as a group of 24 freshmen, eager to take advantage of all opportunities. Our class officers were Ronald Borick, president, Frank Gavitt, vice president, Ramona Phillips, secretary, Floye Myers, treasurer. Like those before us, we went through the ordeal of learning new routines under the eagle eyes of the upperclassmen and the earnest guidance of the faculty. After a few weeks, we became adapted to the rules of the school and to the fact that our progress dur- ing the coming four years would be equal to efforts which we would put forth. During the year, the new part of the building was finished and we moved into the newly equipped commercial room, which remained our homeroom for the remainder of our high school days. We shall never forget some of the pleasant experiences of our freshman year, outstanding might be, the classic day the freshman girls were initiated into the Future Homemakers of America. They were a sight as they donned their bluejeans inside-out, their strings of carrot and celery beads, and their tin pan hats. Then too, we were very lucky to have several boys interested in athletics, and as it happened, to make a sub- stantial contribution to the athletic program all through 'schoo1. Frank Gavitt made the varsity team in our freshman year. We ended our ninth year with a very pleasant trip to Rolling Green Park. On September 5, 1956, we became Silly sophomores, and what a happy year it turned out to be. Harry J. Gobora, was our new homeroom teacher and incidentally remained in that capacity for the rest of our high school days. Our class officers were Edward Houseknecht, president, Floye Myers, vice presidentg Connie Phillips, secretary, Ronald Schloyer, treasurer. We held a sock dance, and used socks as our decorations. Also during our sophomore year, we ordered our class rings.
