P R E p S A I S D T E N T S 611155 flistary Seniors! Oh yes, that's us! It seems so unusual to be called seniors. They were always the people we looked up to and admired for their leadership of the school's activities. Now, here it is our senior year, the busiest and perhaps the happiest one of our lives. With our high school days drawing to a close, we look back over the past six years and recall many pleasant memories with a feeling of sadness that they are over. Remember the first day at S, H. H, S, P Golly, we were just little seventh graders entering into one of the best high schools in the country. That was an exciting year for us and everything was different from what we had been accustomed. We were entering a building which was to house our ambitions, mistakes, and achievements for the following six years. We were to make the inevitable errors which occur to every new class, namely, forgetting where our lockers were, hurrying into the wrong room or getting ready to pass classes on the wrong bell. Something we never did completely overcome. We entered eighth grade feeling a little bigger and knowing our way around a little better than we did during the previous year. There were all those wonderful basketball games. Gosh, weren't we proud of our team and the cheerleaders. There were, also, all the dances, assemblies, baseball games, and other extracurricular activities. Next came our freshman year. That was the year we made most of our friends, for that year we combed our hair, wore lipstick, stepped on the girls' shoes, pulled the girls' hair, and the like. Suddenly we were sophomores. There were the bake sales, sophomore hop, and the ordering of our class rings. Our junior year is the year we looked forward to the most. Now we could be called upperclassmen, and we felt as if we were really a big part of S, H, H, S, We had a very nice prom with beautiful decora- tions. We also received our class rings. Who will ever forget the junior class play Mountain Gal? Finally, almost before we realized it, the seniors were planning to leave S, H. H, S, and we were going to step in their place. We were determined to make our senior year the best year at S, H, H. S, We've found it busy and filled with many responsibilities, but we've enjoyed every moment of it. We presented as our senior play, The Defiance of David Charles. Then graduation day finally arrived, May 23, 1958, and on that evening we held commencement exercises, the theme of which was Communism or Democracy. As we heard our names called that evening to receive our diplomas, we were sad to leave Sullivan Highland School and the friends that we had made, but we were proud to know that we have achieved desired goals. We felt, also, that as long as we live, we always shall have the happy memories of our wonderful years at S, H, H, S, Finally, on May 26, 1958, we started on our trip to Washington with a feeling of relief after the strenuous week that had just passed. Oh! yes, vacation time in Washington. What a wonderful thought.
