Oh yes, that's us! It seems so unusual to be called seniors. They were always the people we looked up to and admired for their leadership of the school's activities. Now, here it is our senior year, the busiest and perhaps the happiest one of our lives. With our high school days drawing to a close, we look back over the past six years and recall many pleasant memories with a feeling of sadness that they are over. Remember the first day at S, H. H, S, P Golly, we were just little seventh graders entering into one of the best high schools in the country. That was an exciting year for us and everything was different from what we had been accustomed. We were entering a building which was to house our ambitions, mistakes, and achievements for the following six years. We were to make the inevitable errors which occur to every new class, namely, forgetting where our lockers were, hurrying into the wrong room or getting ready to pass classes on the wrong bell. Something we never did completely overcome. We entered eighth grade feeling a little bigger and knowing our way around a little better than we did during the previous year. There were all those wonderful basketball games. Gosh, weren't we proud of our team and the cheerleaders. There were, also, all the dances, assemblies, baseball games, and other extracurricular activities. Next came our freshman year. That was the year we made most of our friends, for that year we combed our hair, wore lipstick, stepped on the girls' shoes, pulled the girls' hair, and the like. Suddenly we were sophomores. There were the bake sales, sophomore hop, and the ordering of our class rings. Our junior year is the year we looked forward to the most. Now we could be called upperclassmen, and we felt as if we were really a big part of S, H, H, S, We had a very nice prom with beautiful decora- tions. We also received our class rings. Who will ever forget the junior class play Mountain Gal? Finally, almost before we realized it, the seniors were planning to leave S, H. H, S, and we were going to step in their place. We were determined to make our senior year the best year at S, H, H. S, We've found it busy and filled with many responsibilities, but we've enjoyed every moment of it. We presented as our senior play, The Defiance of David Charles. Then graduation day finally arrived, May 23, 1958, and on that evening we held commencement exercises, the theme of which was Communism or Democracy. As we heard our names called that evening to receive our diplomas, we were sad to leave Sullivan Highland School and the friends that we had made, but we were proud to know that we have achieved desired goals. We felt, also, that as long as we live, we always shall have the happy memories of our wonderful years at S, H, H, S, Finally, on May 26, 1958, we started on our trip to Washington with a feeling of relief after the strenuous week that had just passed. Oh! yes, vacation time in Washington. What a wonderful thought. Hlass LW!! I 95 8 Darl Anderson, will my ability to get out of school to Robert Eberlin, with hopes that he can find as many good excuses to get away with it. Joan Beinlich, will my ability to giggle in shorthand and science class to Patty Foust. Carol Boatman, leave my alarm clock to Shirley Rocker, who can keep up the consistent punctuality of being to school on time. Barbara Booth, leave my long fingernails, minus the fingernail polish to Ronald Schloyer, who has eaten his down to the first knuckle over examination worries. Chester Boyer, will an extra pair of trousers to Mr. Gobora in case someone else has the qrip-roaringi experience that I had during basketball season. Daniel Brown, will my red M-G to the Driver Training Program LNo Accidents, Pleasey. Margaret Fausey, will my ability to get stuck in the snow with the play director to anyone who has that kind of luck. Anne Fiester, will my electric charge which blows fuses and interrupts the sound system to Barry Stepp, with hopes that he can control that powerful force that causes Mr. Brown so much difficulty. Ruth Foust, will my surplus chewing gum to the junior girls, on condition that they use it only for sticking papers together or some other useful and legal purpose. Vell Holcombe, will a moonlight ride in my father's black hearse to any girl who offers to take the chance. Julia Houseknecht, will my love for basketball, especially a certain official, to Belva Phillips. Wilma Houseknecht, will my ability to operate the Monroe calculator to Franklin Worthing- ton, to aid him in his math work. Dean Hunsinger, will my ability to do as little as possible to Alta Mae Shaffer, with the hope that she meets the future with as much success as I have. John Little, will my rough tactics with women to Jim Toothaker. fwatch out, Jeanlj Gloria Myers, will my love for the Navy to Frank Gavitt. Richard Newman, leave my position as teachers pet to Dennis Bender with a theme on How to Take It From Teachers. Evelyn Proof, bequeath my long eye lashes to Ronald Borick, on condition that he agrees not to use them on improving his hair style. Elaine Johnson, leave my bold, aggressive manner to Merri Golder, in the hope that it will help her get over her shy and timid ways. Harold Rider, will my sense of humor to Mrs. Fiorini, with hopes that it will help her teach next year's senior English class. Shirley Rider, leave my skill at whispering out loud to anyone who gets a back seat. Sandra Robbins, will my naturally wavy hair to Aldora Hamilton. Signed Witnessed The Senior Class E Yearbook Advisor j 614.95 Prophecy As we sit down to enjoy an evening of relaxation, we tum on the television set and find that in place of Dar1Anderson's regular program of 'You are There' this noted commentator is to- night presenting a special feature program, You Will Be There. He is forecasting the future of the Class of 1958 of the Sullivan Highland High School. The following are the forecasts we hear: Darl Anderson as we all know is the master of ceremonies on You are There. Joan Beinlich is now employed as a secretary for Eastem Jet Airlines and is also a large stock- holder. A Trailer Court has been built ln Sonestown with the former Carol Boatman parked in the first available space. Barbara Booth seems to be steadily employed, driving tmck for her father now that she is out of school. Chester Boyer is now married and is preaching in Dushore. And what is this we hear? Dan Brown has just won the Grand Prix Race in Le Mans, France, for the third consecutive year. Margaret Fausey, or Peggy as we remember her, is in the Waves stationed in beautiful Hawaii. At the high school in Eagles Mere, we find Anne Fiester teaching Home Economics and Art. The only report any one can find for Ruth Foust is that she is still living a very casual life. Vell Holcombe has certainly gone places. He has just received the Nobel Prize for designing a high-powered rocket and has landed ou the moon. Judy Houseknecht now has the leading role in a Broadway Play in New York. fThe play is Hillbilly Hesvenrj We find as president of the new secretarial college in Muncy Valley, Wilma Houseknecht. Another former classmate, Dean Hunsinger, is now the manager of the A8sP in Dushore. Elaine Johnson has just established a business office in Nordmont. Our friend John Little always did get around a lot. He has just completed a Naval cruise of the Mediterranean. Gloria Myers seems to be with the Navy also. She is a lieutenant in the Navy Nursing Corps, now stationed in Norfolk. Richard Newman is manager and part owner of Hotel Stag with hotels and motels across the whole state of Pennsylvania. Northeastem Pennsylvania is blessed with elaborate beauty shops, many of which are owned by Evelyn Proof. lt seems as though Eagles Mere has a new mayor, Harold Rider Jr. Shirley Rider is a prominent citizen of Eagles Mere and owner of a resort hotel in Florida. Sandra Robbins is now overseas teaching the fifth grade students at a foreign Naval Air Base. ig I, BEAVER A 5. .L Y, J. TOOTHAKER .f-NN' B, PHILLIPS F. GAVITT J, FERRELL I. The coaches, referees, and school officials were asked to fill out a rating sheet on each team at each game. The points were totaled at the end of the sea- son. The school having the most points for a year was awarded a bronze plate, with its engraved name upon it. This plate was affixed permanently to the plaque. A school must win the award three years in order to retain the plaque in its own possession. The schools are judged according to four standards: 1. Team courtesy before and after games. 2. Conduct of players during games. 3. Attitude and conduct of spectators. 4. Conduct of coaches and school officials. We are proud that our school has won this award for three out of the four years that it has been presented. We feel that this experience will have a pro- found effect on the lives of all individuals who have worked so tirelessly to bring this honor to our school. We should continue to strive for even better sportsmanship in the future. To all who helped in any way we say Thanks.
